Blow him up: Jack The "Magic" Man (Fluffe9911), Bill (Puppyguard)
Body Double Curse Proxy: Bartolemproze, Orcorbis
Separate the Mind and Soul from the Body, set into dreams and severing of the link.: Z(tricMagic)
Confine his spirit in an Elysium created within the GFC.  'Promise' to grant the release of 'final death' eventually: Vern (ConscriptFive)
Subsume his being and take his power: Amon Antigonus (Knightwing64)
Holy Inquisition and burning of the heretic: Orcorbis
Bill exchanges glances with his fellow wizards, listening to their extensively detailed plans, before ultimately coming to a consensus.
"You think too hard. Solution simple, use animated cannon. If that no work, we use bigger cannon. If that fail, go bigger."

If his problem is the body, I would propose Dreamland, to wander the astral plain as a ghost, free from the burdens of the flesh forever. In time the link will weaken, before he will be severed from his body forevermore. Does any other wish to contribute their skill with this?

I have a great deal of experience with sleep and dreams as well!  Dragons sleep is not only a biological function but serves to preserve magic power and is a form of stasis using various runes to protect against unwanted intrusions like meddlesome wizard spells sent to help pathetic heroes*.

What was I talking about?

Oh right, we could curse the poor holy lich with some kind of sleep-dream or dreamless sleep spell, possibly entwining it with the godly blessing so the two could not end without the other.  The fellow may be more amenable to effective mind death through non experience of sleepless dreams then whatever horrible afterlives you others seek to put him through.

I would be willing to offer some runework to enforce a dream curse or soul transfer if it will help though.

If we are all going to just destroy the body we could feed it to a dragon, such digestive systems tend to work wonders... I am told.  I might even uhhh know a dragon we could enlist.

*This is certainly not made up bullshit and Dr Agon is a totally reliable source.

"Have we, perhaps, just slightly, only a little bit, considered what the client actually WANTS?! He would like to die, I do believe, not live on in a crystal, or in a dream state, or be eaten (which, you might note, would in fact do NOTHING against a deity's curse that can prevent any other form of damage, as explained by the guy himself) and live on inside a dragon's stomach, mortal explosives will most assuredly be useless against someone to whom pressure waves and shrapnel are minor inconveniences at worst, and consuming his spirit for a source of power definitely isn't what he wants and is an incredibly stupid idea besides, what if YOU inherit his curse and slowly wither away to nothing?"

"No, clearly we need to actually solve the problem. Transferring the curse onto something (preferably an inanimate object or at worst the flesh golem-type thing proposed earlier) or somehow subverting it would be helpful."

Spoiler: Arven (click to show/hide)
While the idea of transferring the curse does have merit, the proposed method involves quite a bit of pain without the certainty of success. God magic is known to be particularly persistent, the curse might remain with Arlash or worse draw his spirit into the golem.
I suggest we also offer our client the next best thing to death. Eternal sleep, with or without dreams as he chooses.

[spoiler][Name: Vredium
Appearance: a elf with light bronze skin, very dark brown hair, deep brown eyes, black cloak, and dark, jade-colored tunic.
Specialization: shadow magic.
Background: he was possesed by a minor deity, but threw him out of his mind and lost his memories in the process.  he came to the council because he got bored of doing whatever dubious stuff he did before.
MP:5
Items: shadow staff. certain edges are very sharp.

Test: blade gauntlet. a gauntlet that allows the user to summon a sharp weapon made of shadows.]

while asking a deity would be the most effective way, i think it would be better to have millions of years of wisdom at our fingertips.
plus we could use his spirit to make a wizardy version of the batcomputer from the lego batman movie.

We're talking about partially sapient undead spaghetti here, you can probably instruct it to only strangle specific diners.
