And they're on sale as of today. The website has more information on where to buy them -apparently demand was so high they've brought in subcontractors- but one site wants you to register to "express an interest" and the other appears to have collapsed from the overload.

There's total and utter confusion on how to order. Both licencee firms only have an "express your interest" button.

I'd like one...

Huh. I could see very targeted applications for this. Mobile flight controller for RC craft, as a tool for geotagging/geocaching, etc. If there's a way to connect it to a CCD for input, you could build a DIY digital camera out of it. Actually, I could see this as a great tool for guerrilla media. Install some basic photo/video editing tools on it, and you have a portable media studio, since it does say it includes a header footprint for a camera connection. Hook in a digital camera, run it through your tools, kick the output through a wifi or 4G card, and you're a Livestream TV station complete with graphics.

With the LAN jack, this also has the potential to be both a cool network troubleshooting tool, and a handy piece of espionage gear. Since it just looks like a circuit board, it wouldn't arouse that much suspicion if slipped in among a pile of network cards, video cards, etc.

Huh. I'd really love to get one of these, but does anyone have any suggestions on finding a cheap monitor for it? Having to pay double the price of the actual computer to find a monitor for it would suck.

I suppose I could hook it up to the desktop monitor when I wanted to use it..not much it can do without some sort of additional output though, right? There are what, five LEDs on the front?

EDIT: I forgot all about you, DealExtreme.

Looks perfect, sold out though. Will find something like it, hopefully.

It's also got an RCA-6 video output that should work for older televisions; I can pick up a secondhand 14-inch CRT set for a fiver in a pawnshop. You can also pick up an HDMI-to-DVI adapter for about the same money.

My family already has a large media center computer (That cost a bunch more than $35!) and other stuff occupying pretty much all of the ports, and moving stuff around wouldn't be very fun every time I wanted to use it. Plus if I did any of the ideas I had for it, I'd want a..kind of small screen so it could be semi-portable. Or at least not taking up all the desk space in my room. Will check the pawn shop, definitely. Thanks for the ideas!

I've put my name down as interested. Not sure what I would do with it, but I'm sure I'll find something ...

Hmmm ... do double posts count after three months?

Anyway, put my order in for my Pi, it's due in about 6 weeks. I'm excited. Anybody got theirs yet?
