I don't know if I would make a good parent, but I know that I damn sure won't make a bad one.

I do want kids once I find the right woman.

I wouldn't dare afflict a child with the same disease I've had to suffer through. I'm not particularly good with children, but I can see the appeal of having one. I might consider adoption if I were in a more stable situation in life, with a good partner.

If I do have kids, it's going to have to be on my schedule... and hopefully after I'm a bit more mentally stable (I'm doing okay, but I do have occasional pockets of WTF mental issues).  And furthermore, it's going to be kid, singular.  I've thought about the trouble of inflicting mental issues on a child, but the thing is, mine aren't that bad--they're more differences than genuine disability, and it seems like it'd be sort of worse to adopt a kid for the purpose of not having mental weirdnesses, because that'd guarantee communication problems between myself and then.

Also, I have to find the right dude, which right now looks totally impossible.  Maybe later, but I'd be surprised if I ended up with anyone within 5 years of my chronological age.  My family average for the age gap is 7 years... pretty much everyone has exactly that gap, so who knows.

Not interested in having kids, partially because I value the freedom and flexibility of not having to take care of someone, and partially because I always had a strange feeling that I would die a young, untimely death.

Is there an 'I don't have children, and want them in the future, but not yet' option?

I want kids. Like others, I'm not certain it would be fair to give any child my genetic heritage... I'm also scared my psychological issues might scar the kid directly as well, and that I would end up as one of those emotionally manipulating assholes who abuse their kids emotionally/psychologically for their own gratification.

The idea of children has never appealed to me.  I don't hate kids or anything, but I don't do particularly well around them.  Just not that kind of person.

Of course, as far as I can see into the future it's a non issue anyway.  I've not had anything that could even be considered a relationship since the 8th grade (lol), and I'm not interested in being in a relationship.  Just doesn't appeal to me.  So... no chance of kids from me.  And no, I don't do anything that could produce children outside of a relationship either. :)

Anyway, there's a lot of reasons I'd prefer not to have kids even if I was married.  There's the whole overpopulation thing, even if I'd only be contributing insignificantly.  Then there's the tremendous responsibility associated with it, and I've always been the sort of person to just not take a risk rather than potentialy fail at something (i.e. something bad happen to my kids).  Stuff like that.

Mayhaps because I come from a large family myself, but I intend to have children in my future some time. If life wants to be a dick, and prevent me with a means of extending my part of the bloodline, then I wouldn't mind being at least a mentor to one or few. However, if I ever do manage to hook up with someone and we hit it off big time, I wouldn't mind having as large a family as our finances and timeline (using my current age as a reference marker) would allow. Won't be that big, but as long as it's more than 3 (maybe capping off at 6 tops), I would be satisfied.

Probably the only real setbacks I have is my rather limited dating and somewhat social skills (was never really good with the ladies in my past, and I was severely discouraged for a great deal of time). But seeing as I've been giving less a crap about life (in a more positive direction), other peoples' opinions about me, and going full-force towards enjoying life (and damn the expense (My New Year's Resolution for this year, at least)), I think I'll fare far better than usual. Life has started feeling rather stagnant, and it has motivated me to get off my ass and try to afford to go out more often. I already have a plan setup to get me going in the right direction with plenty of momentum. All that's left is better financial stability, and more work to afford to continue to do so.

I plan to not have kids for a long while yet, but even if I end up without a spouse, I'd probably adopt sometime later in my life.

Just 1, though.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

It would appear that we are almost all childless, and that the majority don't want children. (And the lower boards appear to have way more men than women, even when participants don't have to identify themselves as one or the other publicly.)

I guess the global population really is destined to zero out in upcoming years. Then again, we're a strange bunch to begin with.

I want exactly one child, and no way in hell I wouldn't adopt~
Adoption gives a (hopefully good) home to an unwanted child~
It also helps to deal with population~

Really, ever since my mom gave birth to my thirteen-year younger sister, I've wanted to be a dad. But first things first - my kids have gotta have a mom before I consider becoming a dad.
