Also, I did not appreciate the way Glyphgryph assumed I had questions to ask as he pushed me aside. So, he made sure to notify me that he realized I voted him, but wasn't very townlike about it.

And how did GlryphGrlyph deviate from the correct, townlike way to notify you that he realized you voted him?
He asked if I had questions, not in a demanding way, but in a passive confrontational-avoiding way. In short, he was trying to hard to avoid my ire.

Should he have told you to fuck off then?

Webadict, you're always scum.  Explain to me why I should believe you're not.
Your concern is valid, which is surprising given that you're the only one to say something. Well, you either trust I'm town, or you wait for me to be nightkilled. Or you could try reading me.

I do not trust you're town, waiting is passive anti-town play (and implies I know you're going to be NKed, which I don't), and to read you I need to get you talking (working so far).

You didn't answer my question: what do you expect to get from lynching GlyphGryph so quickly?

While no, that would have been overly aggressive, it would have been better than his answer. Being overly aggressive is much better than being not aggressive enough.

Heh. You're pretty clever. Again, there is nothing I have that can PROVE I'm Town other than my word, so you're going to have to learn to read me or trust me. Usually, the latter works well for me.

And I did miss your question. My bad. I expect to lynch scum. Brain-buster, that one.

Sarcasm or genuine compliment?  I can never tell.

Well, I never trust anyone in these games (unless I'm a mason in a non-bastard mod, or the like) to be Town, but I've got nothing on you at the moment.  Unvote.

Mind explaining to me how you managed to get such a solid scum read out of Glyph's single post up to that point (since it clearly wasn't a pressure vote, as you asked nothing)?

Orangebottle:

Dariush: Do you have a good reason as to why we shouldn't lynch you right now?

PPE:Powder Miner is definitely a Ninja.

Do you have a good reason we shouldn't lynch you right now?  A "joking" accusation that someone is scum, plus your gradually growing meta-dislike of Dariush all coming together in a big ol' pile of useless post.

That said I never really cared about being commando or ninja, and considering I knew absolutely nothing about this game- and I still know nothing except my role- I haven't had a plan.
I didn't ask if you had a plan, I asked if you had an approach. Your "plan" SHOULD be to hunt scum, find them, and lynch them. Why isn't that your plan, Powder Miner?

My question was about your APPROACH - how are you going to try to turn out the scum? But the answer is pretty obvious at this point, I think - you're not.

Oppose Shorten
Why are you shortening, anyway, GryphGlyph?
Because I want the day to end earlier, obviously. Why are you opposing it? Keep in mind there's practically no risk of the day actually being shortened from one vote. This, though? This opposition to the shorten? What, exactly, did you hope to gain - other than trying to look like a brave towny by opposing the shorten?

Webadict Do you think this will be a bastard mod or a closed setup or what? Do you think there are thirdparties?
And this - dear god, this. Really, what is this? Softball? Look at this shit. Web posts a no-content, no question vote, makes himself an easy target, and you vote him... with a fucking pointless RVS? What the hell is up with that?

Please, go into detail - why did you feel the need to shorten? Why did you feel the need to vote for webadict and ignore all the obvious pressure questions you could have asked? And why, exactly, is your plan anything other than some variant of "identify and lynch the scum"?

Also, you're still online, so I expect an answer ASAP - no waffling around spending time chatting up the proper response with hypothetical scumbuddies. The sooner I get your answer, the more likely I am to not believe that you're scum.

Oh, I thought you meant something specific aside from the glaringly obvious. Yes I will hunt scum and lynch them. "Hunt scum" doesn't even qualify as an approach (it's how you kinda have to play the game) and I was supposed to answer with that? If I was, let me respond with a question similar to yours.

Is your forum account name GryphGlyph?
In any event, I thought you meant if I had a particular way of doing things, a strategic outlook of sorts, would I go especially all-out or would I remain looking at posts, that sort of thing. (Because that's what having an approach is, in case you didn't know.)

I don't want the day to end earlier. I hoped to nullify any progress you would make towards a shorten. I would think that would be kind of obvious, but then again you seem to have difficulty with things that are obvious.

I missed the post, not hard to do with a oneword post. I saw further discussion about it, assumed it was in a larger post, and went on. Anyway, it's not a pointless RVS. When I say I know nothing about the game, I mean I know nothing about the game. I was trying to gather information, like you might like the town not to do.

My plan isn't anything other than identify and lynch the scum. I said I didn't have a special plan for coming into the game. This doesn't mean "O-ho conspiracies if he answers my question with a correct meaning of having an approach instead of my incorrect one HE IS SCUM WHO DOESN'T WANT TO LYNCH SCUM HAHA!" And why would I ask easylynch questions? It isn't scumhunting, doesn't help town.

IronyOwl, which player are you most afraid of?
webadict. I have no idea how to read him, and he's incredibly cunning and... charismatic, I guess? He's got that Jimlike quality where he can do just about anything and have it both look fairly natural, and have a perfectly good explanation for why he's doing/did it.

Unvote Jim.

Orangebottle, suppose you're scumbuddies with Dariush. How do you handle that?

Right. Because there totally weren't other things to my post beside those two lines which you decided to cherry-pick out of it.
And yes, I do have a good reason. I need to practice my town game.

Orangebottle, suppose you're scumbuddies with Dariush. How do you handle that?
It mostly depends on the situation.
In any situation where he provides no use to the scumteam, I'd bus the shit out of him.

Because I want the day to end earlier, obviously. Why are you opposing it? Keep in mind there's practically no risk of the day actually being shortened from one vote. This, though? So, why did you want to end the day earlier? That's a pretty dodgy answer.

Wow. Okay, so Powder Miner. That was an awfully defensive post for a little bit of pressure. But here's the one major thing I noticed, the biggest thing. You didn't follow up on Web. He blew you right the fuck off. And you ignored it.

Why didn't you follow up on Web?

When you're ready to answer that, let's move on.

Yes, except you didn't tell me you had no particular approach in mind. You told me you had no plan. Pardon me if I'm jumping at shadows here, but the change is not, in my mind, a minor one. Townies can have strategies and approaches, but they do not, generally, have plans, because the only plan they need is lynching scum. And that would have been a pretty terrible answer, because it wasn't responding to the question I fucking asked. And since you're approach seems to be "Random vote and pointless question someone who's already said things worth commenting on", maybe you SHOULD have spent more time thinking up a better approach.

Is your forum account name GryphGlyph?
Yes. What did you hope to learn from asking me that?

In any event, I thought you meant if I had a particular way of doing things, a strategic outlook of sorts, would I go especially all-out or would I remain looking at posts, that sort of thing. (Because that's what having an approach is, in case you didn't know.)
I did know that. Which is found it so odd you seemed so confused, not about approach, but about what you should be doing at all. You not only didn't have any approach in mind, any strategy for scumhunting, you said (and acted like) you literally had no plan at all yet. Plans are for scum. Also, you know what would have been a good response, if you WERE to be asked what your plan was? You could have actually spent some time thinking up an answer.

Here, this would have been a good start:
Just a quick note: That's good advice for everyone, but I'm sure most of the people in this game are awfully familiar with it by now.

Simply put - if you don't have a plan for finding scum, fucking get one, because sitting back and waiting for them to come to you is going to make the town lose. (But then, you'd like that, wouldn't you?)

I don't want the day to end earlier. I hoped to nullify any progress you would make towards a shorten. I would think that would be kind of obvious, but then again you seem to have difficulty with things that are obvious.
Thats a bullshit explanation, and you know it. If anyone else had requested a shorten, you'd have had plenty of time to oppose it then, plus a little more information. So what exactly is your reasoning?
Mine: A Day Shorten gets responses. Responses, especially day 1, help find scum. In addition, shortens add pressure - people respond, because they are suddenly unsure on whether or not they'll have time to respond later. I'm also impatient, and like shorter days (there's a reason I run quick bastards), and see extra time as the lead killer of games. Essentially, I have a whole host of fairly strong reasons to start off with a shorten.
Now, detail your reasons as to why, exactly, you'd not only oppose a shorten, but destroy my ability to use it to pressure scum for no actual purpose beyond "nullifying progress" of something that is clearly not going to fucking happen with this play group? Because, really, that's what you did. You screwed it up. And saying "you didn't want the day to be shorter" is a bullshit reason - even if my original reason was just as bullshit. And it was! But you used the opportunity to make a weak personal attack and defend yourself instead of using it to attack me.

Come on. There was, what, a whopping 7 fucking posts to read? And you decide to target web, who is notoriously hard to read, supposedly, with a couple lameass questions, conveniently ignoring his post which would have been fairly easy to read, since it was only one word, and fairly easy to notice, since the whole thing was in red. That's not just laziness or stupidity - that's feeling the need to do put on an appearance (of scumhunting) without putting in the actual effort of doing it.

And why would I ask easylynch questions? It isn't scumhunting, doesn't help town.
What does this even mean? Please, expound, what is an "easylynch question", exactly?

Unvote Urist Imiknorris

Orangebottle: You missed GlyphGryph's post on that answer. The last paragraph in your post.

And you need to practice your town game by...voting Dariush with the intention of a full-on-lynch?

GlyphGryph: Your shorten does get answers, yes, but it also does imply that you have some kind of plan for the night too, other than baiting scum in that is.

Shorten

Now, let's get some shit done, shall we?

PowderMiner - I've been out of practice for a while. Have you played much before? Are you thinking of any particular approach for this game? Before it started, were you hoping to be a commando, or a ninja?

I've noticed the only one you've been hounding was Powder Miner, why so? And the need for ASAP answers?

Dariush: If you were the cop, would you base your investigation on your target's visible scumminess (i.e. his/her posts) or on the reputation of that player?
