All MECs in my force are going to be required to wear helmets.

Still, though, can't wait to have a guy in a mech suit whallop a Mechtoid.

You know, we've been talking about how mech soldiers are going to be straight superior to augmented soldiers but... do they actually get normal weapons?  It looks like they only get one of two non-upgradable mech weapons.

Also, inb4 there's an enemy type specifically designed to punish you for augmenting your soldiers indiscriminately.  Seriously, with that expansion name it would be a disappointment if your mech soldiers weren't hacked and forced to fight you.

That acutally sounds like it'd make the game a lot more dynamic.

I highly doubt mecs are going to be straight superior. Having some chance of augmented/mec soldiers turning on your would be very interesting, though.

Mechs do still have organic brains, you know. They'll probably be vulnerable to mind control.

I still think that Enemy Within refers to allium sympathizing scum.

What would be cool is if there were enemies that could sabotage augments, which would take a soldier from unambiguously better in that category to unambiguously worse.  For example, having your leg biomod sabotaged would take away its advantage AND make you move at a crawl.

Maybe it will be like in Starsiege, where some of the members of your squad can turn out to be alien-sympathizing scum!

There was nothing quite like the thrill of one of your closest allies going turncoat in the middle of a tight battle because of moral conflict with your mission objective!

You know what I'd love to see? Missions to try and take back lost countries, but where you have to fight humans using alien tech as well as aliens themselves.

Oooh, that's a good one too.

How about subverting enemy units, not just temporarily with mind control, but longer-term with some sort of brainwashing?

Hah, now I'm imagining something like creating sleeper agents from LCS - we are the alien's Enemy Within.

I think the "Enemy Within" deal is going to be about the development of technology running rampant due to humanity's exposure to the invaders and the willingness behind that to do whatever might be felt as necessary, losing whatever moral standards humanity had in the process. That was the entire thing in Enemy Unknown, with the scientist and engineer continuously commenting on how scary the tech was becoming, hoping it was worth it and that it wouldn't bite them in the ass later and if only it could have been developed for peace.

It's either that or the world is becoming splintered due to that or other factors. For example, in Enemy Unknown, countries could drop support of XCOM, but what was the point? They had no hope of doing anything themselves. Perhaps Enemy Within will show the efforts of unaffiliated countries and organizations.

My impression was that countries dropped support because they were overrun.
