My only gripe with the voice acting is that there's no easter egg panic messages. I would have put in "I'a! I'a! Cthulhu fhtagn!", amongst other things.

It would make sense to release as DLC however.

I don't think there would be all that many different voice sets. What comes to mind is:
Generic American Accent for the USA, Philippines, Israel. :P
Generic English accent for England.
"Funny sounding" English accent for Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Wales, Cornwall, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand.
Indian Accent. India and Pakistan.
Far East Accent. Japan, China, SEA.
Hispanic Accent for Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Brasil, South America.
Arabian Accent for Asia Minor and the Middle East.

Europe would be the biggest problem since accents are extremely varied.
You could get away with a generic Western and East european accent but it would be better to split in smaller regions like France, Germany, Russia, Scandinavia etc.

So at a bare minimum I think you could easily get away with 9 voice sets which would inject major personality which would be far superior to the vacuum cleaner drone that is the generic hollywood accent.

I'm also curious why the XCOM committee thinks that Oceania is not a valid spot for a HQ while Africa is. When the invasions start, sign me up to an island nation with a low population density.

I personally wanted the option to have an Antarctica HQ with a negative "bonus".

Well, if you choose Asia, your base is in the Philipines, placing you optimally to get to anywhere in Oceania or Asia.

Yeah, technically Oceania is part of Asia. :P Why they couldn't just let you put your base wherever and then just apply the region bonus based on where you dropped it is beyond me. :/

I have a feeling they're going to do an awesome sequel with stuff like that.

Yeah, in hindsight, and thanks to some of your previous posts, I'm starting to become of the idea that Enemy Unknown was just the set-up for a series of epic proportions. There's no way Firaxis can drop the ball on this one, the only way to go from here is up.

Makes sense. They really weren't sure if the game would take off or not before it actually released. Now that it has I expect that they'll start doing a lot more with it.

I do hope that they bring back some of the explosive weaponry that was present in the original xcom...  was really sad there was no auto cannons :(

Really just more control over the units as well as diversified weaponry would be brilliant.

I wouldn't expect that particular feature. I suspect future iterations will try to be console friendly, and free aiming appears to contradict that.
However, I do expect to see more detailed tactical combat in X-Com: The Bureau. or so I hope.

Agreed.  More late game stuff would also be good.  As with the other XCOMS, early game is great, late game is brutal massacre of invading aliens.

I can see why they removed free aiming.  In the original game it was usually best to just wander around shooting every piece of cover the aliens could possibly be hiding behind, and it's boring to have that be the best strategy.

That wasn't why they removed free aiming though.
