resting from the whole country stuff i decided to sketch some ancient races, main story in the project says that there was a galaxy wide extinction event around 1 mya from the current events. these races were at their prime during that period, or at least, these were the only ones that have been found.
from left to right:
-an amphibian race born out of creatures convergent with cephalopods and elasmobranchs. their frontal gills served them as olphatory detectors, however, their species adapted to detect water vibrations and electric changes. most of their communication was visual, using their heads to express emotion via chromatic patterns. their bodies were mostly supported by carthilague, they were the first alien species to reach the planet and survive the extinction event, however, their descendants fought between each other and disappeared from the star system a few centuries before the ice age.
-a race of which their organic origins are as of yet unknown, their advancenments with elementalism allowed them to connect with the planet's spirit, this planetary matrix allowed them to put their consciences on energy charged geodes which allowed them to regenerate their bodies with rock. they were specially adapted to live on planets that were unsuitable for organic life. but their geodes eroded gradually over time so they werent inmortal either.
-a race of arthropoids that evolved in a planet with less gravity than Earth. very capable flying, they were among the first races in the galaxy to develop floating technologies for high gravity environments. their society worked as a meritocracy instead of a hivemind, however, they were very communal. their antenae helped them detect vibrations, their mouthparts limited their vocalization so they communicated by vibrations produced by the wing-like structures on their heads, with their palps serving as secondary feelers.
-a race of creatures of which their affinities are currently incertidae sedis. their bodies contained animal structures but their bodies had compounds more consistent with fungi and plants. whatever the case, their bodies had adapted to survive in an arid world prone to wildfires. despite their highly flammabe environment, they were able to harness it to kickstart their civilization, they were among the first species to develop steam engines and fusion reactors a few centuries later. however, their most prodigal advancement was in biomantics, being able to produce organic ships and structures and even terraform planets in order to improve their survival.
