Drew this sketch awhile ago, wanted to share it.

There's parts I like about it and some I don't(Mistakes I didn't really register until now)

What have I walked into?

Arx, that's a really nice drawing. The wrist doesn't look too bad. The only thing that really sticks out is the small axe head. It's fine to have a small one if it's facing away, but if that's the case the base of the pole should be noticeably thicker than the top.

Ya, very nice Arx. Question, did you draw lines first and then color it in? Or just go right in to making shapes with paint tools?

I do rough line work, then block in rough colour shapes, and then refine the shapes until they look about right. The linework usually ends up looking only vaguely like the finished product. For instance, this is what the knight looks like with the original lines laid over:

Yea, I just wanted to let you know lines usually help a lot. Of course, if you're okay with having the picture defined by the lines instead of the color, you can always block out a general shape and clean it up with lines.

So I found this cool little web program thing called Pimp my Gun. It gives you a list of gun parts to assemble into your own weapon, and allows you to export that as a .jpeg, or as text to load later. Sadly it doesn't seem to be updating anymore, but it still has an extensive list of parts.

So I've been thinking, how willing would you guys be to participate in an exercise thread (I know we had a few, but they all kinda diead, EG too since Spreggo doesn't come around anymore).

Ideally it'd run for two-three months and have a weekly focus like perspective, colour, lightning and stuff. And to get people to stick with it maybe some sort of reward for the top student or something?

Just brainstorming here, since I wanna do some more focused studying but know that I'll hardly keep to the schedule if nobody is there to do it with me/oversee my progress and push me on.

It's always worth a try. Sadly those threads tend to die pretty soon.
While there already are so many art threads on this forum, none of them are focused, really.

I would be on it. A clear schedule and concrete deadlines could encourage us, maybe requesting for a bit of self-discipline (inside the forum, nobody can directly reprimand you for not doing something). But surely, I'm sure I need it.
