4th wall: Withstand the magnitude of these annoying POV switches.

Come on everyone. Take this seriously. We picked this story, and so we are going to see it though to the end. And anyway, we need Zach to have the point of view, as he knows more than anyone else in character about the story.

Zach: Continue on towards the 'tower of heaven'

POV switch: Close up shifting view of every person in the room, including the Author, before shifting to [Ochita's plan]

Zach: Listen to your conscience! Continue on towards the Tower of Heaven.

LOOK AT ALL THESE...

NUNBERS AND ABIBITIES

>Head outside, because why not?

The party heads outside, and thankfully the POV withstands the desperate hands of a thousand grubby reader suggestions. Don't worry, POV. I won't let anything happen to you.

Also, the Tower of Heaven is deep in the Dry Dry Desert. It's nowhere near here! Let's focus on your current mission: find the Aqua Star in this blasted CRYSTAL PALACE.

Some GHAST GUYS fade into view. Looks like they were waiting on you.

COMBAT TIME!

It's alright if all six of the characters don't get commands. I'll just think something up for them.

Joe and Oomph: Slash stun and regular attack on each of the two Ghast Guys in front of you respectively.
Zachary: Identify the Guy in the Special zone.
Amadeus: Fireball the Ghast Guy that Oomph hit.
Ochita: Fireball the Guy with the most damage, or the one in the special zone if that one is dead.
Bradley: Fire Magiflash on the enemy's Melee zone

Just a lil' update: I'm postponing this in favor of a couple much more slow-moving games that are less time-consuming to update while college is taking over most of my day. One has yet to be started, and I still need to see if it takes off.

Luigi Quest: Down but not out.
« Reply #1019 on: February 22, 2013, 11:29:37 am »

I bet no one even remembers this, do they? Well, here's a little update: the story and mechanics of this got really out of hand during the last couple of months that I ran turns in both this game and Mushroom Kingdom Wars. However, I'm still interested in taking what I learned from both games and making something more consistently interesting and engaging.

Therefore, once I'm done with my current suggestion game [whether it finishes up or dies off], I'll be rebooting this game. The idea of working on this vast, overly cliche story is very unappealing, so the reboot will be a lot simpler in terms of story. It will have the following features, most likely, but it's still in the planning stage:

-The main character will be of the readers' creation. Thanks to Paper Mario and the Everclear Night for inspiration here.
-The universe won't be a Mario/Zelda crossover. It'll pull in elements from all the main Nintendo series and elsewhere, kind of like Super Smash Bros.
-It will either utilize sprites or faux-sprites like the kind seen during Crank's dungeon adventures in Mushroom Kingdom Wars.
-It will be similar to a classic dungeon crawl/RPG. The mechanics will be very strict and efficient, and the players will be able to discover them as they go.

Sorry for anyone who was hoping this was going to continue (if they still exist). It was a fun run, though, and taught me a bit about art, game design and writing. :)
