What version of Dwarf Fortress did you Prefer the most? Why?

Ok, I've been thinking, I started on 40d, then moved onto 31.25, but, I missing some bits and pieces of 40d, such as searching for bottomless pits/magma pipes, but in 31.25, I also like the military, caverns and GHOST SCIENCE, so I was just wondering, what version did you prefer more, and why?
Do not worry, I will not put you up against the wall for your opinions if they clash with mine, sorry if this has been done before, I took a break from Dwarf Fortress, and Thank you...

31.xx gives me obnoxious amounts of control that require painstaking amounts of effort for newbs. And I'm just ok with it like that.

The patch version where Chickens laid Iron Chairs instead of eggs was fun... good for trading, anyway.

I liked 0.31.13 and it's drunk and master thief migrants. Them master thieves made some badass brokers.

I have used the other versions besides, vs25, but none beats the !!fun!! of Night Creatures and ghosts.

Is there an option for "future version"?

I enjoy 31X just fine, but there are some glaring bugs that I'm anxious to see fixed

I've been playing since around 0.23.130.23a, and I still play 23a and 40d now, but the current version is my favourite - there are things I love about the old versions, which is why I keep copies of them around, but I always spend more time on the latest version than on any other.
