If you don't have a T-shaped gap, make one yourself. It will help train your miners.

Well, why don't you try atomsmashing them instead?

It might just be you. I love carving out lots of space, and after atomsmashing my FPS always rises almost back to normal.

Why not use PerfectWorld and manually put some T's that way?

Those T's aren't small enough. With PerfectWorldDF, you can only design regional maps with 1-tile accuracy. An embark is not larger than one tile of the regional map, so PerfectWorldDF can't do much there.

Even if you import a bitmap that have T's that are only a few pixels wide? Will they be too small and just get ignored?

No, they'll be much too large. I think you still haven't fully grasped the concept of "huge" when it comes to DF worlds.  :P

In terms of scale, when measuring large things DF goes from big, gargantuan, to HOLY FUFUUUUUUFUUUUUUUUUUUU

You could always embark with 5-7 miners and make yourself the T shape

...it to pain full to dig it out...

I know the grammar wasn't correct, but it was still understandable.
