Griph took advantage of the situation and stuck his sword into the succubus's back. With a spout of blood and an anguished gasp, the succubus again kicked Griph and sent him stumbling. She dashed over to Zario. Alexander ran to intercept her and swung his scythe, creating another gash in her leather armor and causing her to crumple.

Donitz pranced in and helped Raynold dispatch the trolls, with Lasa behind him. She was talking quickly without stopping. "Where-did-you-get-that-are-you-some-kind-of-god-of-music?-never-mind-just-listen-that-is-very-expensive-and-useful-do-not-lose-it-and-try-to-learn-it-by-heart.." What Donitz did get from her was that it caused a small shield to form, that blue=magic, red=physical, and that yellow=ranged. He also learned that it only blocked weak to moderate attacks, and to try not blocking a dragon's breath or something stupidly powerful with that.

Meanwhile, Zario whirled in and, too easily, swiped the heads off of the skeletons before they could even get up. Briskly turning, he saw one succubus on the floor, and two ruthless boys chasing after her. The succubus rapidly closed on Zario. She managed to straighten a bit. Looking into Zario's eyes, her black eyes seemed desperate; the eyes of one on his death bed. Pressing a round, soft object into Zario's hands, she tried to say something, then collapsed due to blood loss. After a second, her outline wavered, crumbled and swirled away into fine black dust. In her place were five small silver keys, a pile of gold and one piece of old, tattered paper.

With a shudder, a huge stone door at the far end of the boss room slid open into a small, well lit space.

Zario quickly pocketed the object into his black robes before Griph could lay eyes on it. Staring at the pile of blacked ashes Zario muttered under his breath, "Why didn't you run? What was stopping you?" So many questions were left unanswered in her death. He grabbed a silver key, and the piece of paper from her corpse, making sure to read it before Griph steals it from his hands as he's come to expect of him. Knowledge was all he had right now, and there was a puzzle laid before him. Why were the blueprints made, and what did the succubus hand him? There would be time for answers, but for now he'd have to continue on this test.

He swept the hair out of his eyes, and started looking around for the chests that the keys belonged to. There was no point in turning back now, the test was almost over.

Griph took his sword back and grabbed a key. Making sure Alexander wasn't dead yet, he went to the ashes to make sure of something.

Part 1.5 : White

Lasa and Raynold ushered the five boys to the small room.

"The reward room is where you receive your ... reward from the chests. Usually, it depends on the dungeon, but the Tir Chornale graduation dungeon's rewards are influenced by the goddess herself."

Lasa went into the small room, then gasped. There wasn't five regular wooden chests as expected. From the side opposite to the entrance( and behind the goddess's statue) clockwise, there was a jet black chest that had a sheen, a technocolor-painted chest that had purple and yellow as its dominant hues, a chest wrapped in teal satin, a chest that had all sorts of metal parts and pieces on it, and a chest that was pure white, with slight black touches here and there. The position of the chests were:

black chest : 12 o clock
techno-color : between 1 and 2 o clock
teal satin : 3 o clock
gears and gadgets : 5 o clock
white : 6 o clock

Lasa wondered out loud, "What just happened here ...? Is this a sign?"

Raynold, despite being rather un-pious, was just about ready to dash straight to the church and bring them here, except the dungeon would disappear soon.

"At least, you might as well open the chests ..." offered Lasa.

Each person went to the chest that felt right for them; Zario to 12, Donitz to 2, Griph to 3, Thrainn to 5 and Alex to 6. They fitted the silver key into the lock. The keys were seemingly swallowed up by the lock and disappeared with the sound of the chests swinging open.

Owait forgot to add:

After collecting all their loot, the teachers ushered them out by making them touch the goddess' statue with the palm of their hand. They were all deposited in front of the dungeon entrance. It was early night, about 5 or 6.

Donitz will go to the bank before it closes and change his money into a more reasonable form. While he waits he will read his new books and examine the metal box.

Zario looked back at the group as he started walking away. He wouldn't miss them if he never saw them again. Many of them were arrogant, ignorant and dangerous. He loathed almost all of them with a passion. He put on a smug smile and flicked his hair as he turned to them. "I'll see you guys around. Its been fun." He sounded less than enthusiastic. After an hour of walking off the path to avoid the group he found himself back in the village.

After depositing his money at the bank he headed to the general store to see if it were open. Sadly it wasn't, so he slowly turned to find an inn.

Griph dropped to the dirt road and started reading his book. He failed at understanding it. Perhaps he should try again, or go to his house and do so, to aid concentration.

Donitz will go to the bank before it closes and change his money into a more reasonable form. While he waits he will read his new books and examine the metal box.

Donitz quickly dashed to the bank, lugging his bags of copper, and pushed the heavy oaken door open.

"PLEASE CHANGE THESE COINS INTO GOLD PLEASE!"

His arms felt like they were going to fall off. The redheaded woman sitting at the counter looked amused. Beben observed Donitz loading each coinpouch onto the counter. "Where in the world did you get these, Donitz? You're so funny!" She weighed each bag and set nine bank notes and two reddish gold pouches that each held 5000 gold onto the counter, then looked down at the book she was reading.

Donitz, having had the coins counted earlier than he thought, retired home and observed the metal box.  He pressed something, and it shifted, opening the box up to reveal it was bigger on the inside. Lining the box was many many many kinds of metal tools and contraptions.

He opened the book "Walldriver". It told of a new way for bards : using the power of mana to shift the ground and accept his weapon. In other words, slamming the instrument into the ground. It can then be instructed to play music from the bard's memory. He tried to understand the skill, but the usage slipped out of his mentality. Maybe he should try again tomorrow.

Then he turned again to head towards his fine home, if a tad small. He lay down for the night.

Alexander turned to Raynold, and asked, "I am a bit behind on the times are their currently any wars going on in the world?"

Raynold looked at Alex strangely.

"Its been only 4 hours since you were outside ... "

After some staring, he answered the question :

"Yes, though it's not exactly a war, more of a massacre. There was a Fomorian invasion in Emain Maha and Talteen. The former was ill-defended despite having an ENTIRE PLATOON of Paladins camped in the city 24/7. Many people died. The latter was a military base and fended off the attack handsomely, with some help from the local hero."

Alex pondered over Raynolds words for a bit.

"Why do you ask, though...?"

Griph retired to his home on the school grounds. It was provided by the school after an incident with a student led to his original house being burned down. It has a bed, closet, cooking area, and a small study area, which was all Griph wanted or needed. The student was as "forgiven."
The sack full of the succubus ashes was plopped on his desk, and the book was opened back up.

Sleep and then hit the general store. See if I can get the contents of the box, and the sealed scrolls appraised. Cough up some gold if required. Start asking around for work that could bring me to the nearby city.

>Read book again.

Griph opened the book, Chain Casting again.

- ... could perfectly achieve the simultaneous casting of Five instances of magic but cannot withstand the mere power of Two colors of magik could not be ...-

The long and horrible diction almost made Griph's sight swim.  Not to mention the assorted assaults on the rules of capitalization and punctuation. The author seemed to be getting to the point of the book.

- ... way was mastered by Maurus, the great magiktion of the age. He taught the secret of chain casting to his one and only disciple; this disciple has left the Way in text for this author to reprint...-

"Argh!" An exhausted sound came involuntarily from Griph. The author of this book seemed to not know the definition of "punctionality".

Again, he failed to understand the book. But it seemed just one more try the next day would help greatly.
