I got an extremely brief impression. ;)  The game requires X³:Terran Conflict to play, and since my TC version was heavily modified (X-Tended mod) I had some quirks in Albion Prelude such as being unable to fire ze lazers.

Interface and controls seems identical to TC, and I caught a glimpse of some very nice new battle music and fancy new missile trails. The sector I was in got attacked minutes after I'd started a new game. (Unscripted, just some pirates I think)

So it seems what we're getting is TC with new ships, new stations, new storylines, improvements and music. Not a bad deal.

I'll get back once I've finished re-downloading Terran Conflict.

So I have the superbox.  How do I convince it to give me the game for free instead of $9.99

Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

Played some more, did a few storyline missions and so far they've thrown a new ship at me for almost every mission.  I wasn't even done being happy about the neat starter ship I got.

Pro tip though: Update your sound drivers. X³ and codecs don't like each other very much, so if your game turns into a Friday afternoon PowerPoint presentation during heavy fighting, it's likely the sound drivers being out of date.

It's probably not so much sound drivers being out of date as the game looking at the wrong drivers. There's a whole complicated topic on the forum on how to fix it.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Anyone play Albion Prelude yet? I want to know how it is before I grab it for myself.

I've played a bit on one of the Argon starts.  Gives you a Nova Prototype with full shields and partial engine/cargo tunings.  Also only 4x HEPTS and 2x PACs.  So 2 empty spinal slots and 1 empty turret.  Shorty into the story line you get an Advanced Discoverer with fully loaded with shields and IREs.  Next mission gave me a Centaur but I've not checked it out.  Also the TC derlict ships don't seem to still be there.  No clue if removed or just different ones in different spots.

Just one word of warning, if you are sending bailed ships to a shipyard to sell for scrap, don't send them to Omicron Lyrae, they'll get ganked by ATF/UNC fighters at the gates.  Send them to Argon Sector M148.  The first few missions take place there like in the Kha'ak plot in TC.  I lost a bailed M5 that way  :(

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

I got 1 1MJ shield. The Discoverer holds 4.

All voices stopped playing the second time I started the game. I have the software tools to fix it somewhere, but I forget how to use them.

Yeah, two of the starter types give you awesome gear to start with and put you in the heat of the war, while the others just give you the usual basic ship.  You can still do the main plotline but I think you get less live intel on the war efforts.

Yeah, the Terran start does not have the main plot available.  Mostly because the plot is 'Everyone vs. Terrans and the Terrans lose', I guess.

Okay I've played a bit.  The Albion Plot is disabled for the Terrans.  The "war missions" are still there so you can influence how well the war is progressing.

I do have a question.  I've unlocked the Tormented Teladi start.  If I finish the miniplot in that, does it unlock the Poisoned Paranid start?  Furthermore does the Poisoned Paranid still give a (potentially) over=tuned Hyperion Vanguard as a reward for it's miniplot?
