I've actually done something useful!  :o

Gave Tssss, Moderato, and Novoto some stats, and gave Capybara - bell thing some moves and stats.

:D

*Wants to know what Glyphgryph envisions Boatmurdad to look like*

I'm trying to draw it, but all I can think of is Boatforged, but taller.

On the contrary, several (I want to say most, but can't be arsed to check atm) mons follow a predictable pattern. For instance, Lunatone and Solrock learn a new move every sixth level (level 6N+1) until they run out of moves to learn.

EDIT: Another example: Turtwig learns a move at level 4N+1, Grotle at 5N+2 (not counting moves learned before Turtwig evolves), Torterra at 6N+3 (not counting Earthquake and moves learned before Grotle evolves).

EDIT2: Judging by some mons' movesets, I take it there isn't a day-care/breeding equivalent?
Well, there's 4N+1/5N+2 and then there's 5N. A pattern's a pattern, but for some reason multiples of 5 just seem more... pattern-y. Not that that really matters all that much in my opinion, just being devil's advocate.

Also, we'd planned on putting in the day-care/breeding after everything else was done. What makes you say there isn't going to be one, just the lack of egg moves?

The idea was a bigger angrier Boatforged with small Boatborns floating around like little kids. I think the problem was the he was having hard time making that all understandable in the sprite size we have.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

O_o  I don't think that's possible in this size without looking really weird

Exactly. :P I had thought about maybe making the Boatborns just small orbiting fireballs instead and make the size in the dex entry appropriate, but that kind of loses the flavor and still isn't super easy to sprite.

Edit: I say "I" like I was actually planning on doing this at some point, which I'm totally not. Just throwing out suggestions in case one of them's good and I didn't realize it.

Yeah, I was thinking of just making it little floating fireballs around it too, but I just couldn't get the /look/ right. Maybe a large flame elephant like our current one but with a baby flame elephant like our boat-born source next to him?

That might be more doable and recognizable.

Something like:
Code: [Select]
        ___-''\
 --    /       |
 \ \__/  *     |
  \    ^.     . \
   ---'\_/   '   '._
        |           '''\
   /--\_/ \   ;^,;^,
  |_'.___/| | \ .. /--.
          | |   ||  \ |
          / \    ||| ||

The prototype Novoto moveset having its first move at level 18.

I'm pretty sure that was mostly part of it being a prototype and not an actual mon yet.

Also, I've got no clue what Novoto is. I had no vote over this becoming a mon. >:|

Welp, I tried drawing a BoatMurdad, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted. I need to ask Sirknight about how to do proper outlining     or how to draw and shade more like pokemans. I'll probably redraw it later.

Oh, and here have one that's been run through a photoshop filter since I thought it looked kinda neat.

Oh, yeah. I've tried to catch movesets when they've popped up so we get moves starting at level 5, but I've been slacking a bit and missed a lot in the period when the LCS mons came through. :-\

@furtuka&glyphgryph: I like that concept for Boatmurdad. Kind of protective and rampaging at the same time, with the one Boatborn partially hidden. It might be a bit hard to sprite, but it also should be easier than the picture I had in my head of what the current idea was.

edit: I really miss this... I'm still in France, but I have really good internet, so I'll see what I can do for this project in the next few days.

Spoiler: (Not-so) Shiny Map (click to show/hide)

As you can see, I've gotten the base map down for my route. Now all I need to do is scripts, and of course testing the thing from the moon and back. If you have any suggestions/comments/criticism about the map, you should probably say it now.

Is this map added to the rom yet?

I think it still needed some fixin'

Anywho, I keep meaning to jump back on this project and then picking up new stuff to eat up all my time (singing lessons, guitar lessons, running Dark Tides IRC RP, modding cataclysm, running an RtD that is totally gonna die because I'm not doing enough, running a mafia game...)

Damn this board stopping me from accomplishing the stuff I want to accomplish on this board. :P
