Dastotamud Overseer's log
14th of Moonstone

The traders will be leaving soon. We got waht we neede from them though. Sterling silver.

16th of Moonstone

Nice sparring session today. Too bad my sparring buddy slept through the the whole thing.

26th of Moonstone

One of the militia members has grown attached to a crutch. Yes, there is so little going on in he fort that that is considered news.

Ah yes, also. Erica seems to be doing great! She says she is "unhappy". Not miserable, not very unhappy, just "unhappy"!

1st of Opal

Another month down.
Very little happening.
Where are the goblins?

Unhappy? This is unacceptable!

Eric blank has gone berserk!

Also, Urist is going to eventually make a masterwork statue commemorating his creating of a masterwork statue commemorating his creating a masterwork slab!

Have we put a mist generator in the Mayor's bedroom yet?

Dastotamud Overseer's log
5th of Opal

We have an... issue. The cistern is now full, so all the water being pumped in is overflowing. I'll see what I can do.

6th of Opal

I'm tearing down the axles to the pumps for a quick emergency shutoff, but even so, things could be better. Our broker somehow ended up stranded in a small hole full of water, and has drowned.

For now, his body is inaccessible. Slab will be engraved as soon as possible.

9th of Opal

It seems that the flooded area is still quite unsafe. Mitch has also fallen into the hole, and is drowning.

10th of Opal

Things are not going well it seems. Already 7% of the fortress population has died due to the unfortunate flooding accident.

15th of Opal

I would like to say that the worst of the flooding is over, but it goes on. The water is just moving around now.

Also, a rhesus macaque was caught in one of the weapon traps.

27th of Opal

The bodies are starting to stink up the waterworks.

1st of Obsidian

I will soon have reigned an entire year. Not a good year either. But at least the fort is still alive. To a certain degree.

Flooded?  How?  The only inlets into the cistern should be the outlets of the screwpumps.  One of the levers in the Cistern Control Room will close the floodgates on the pump outlets into the cistern, incidentally.

The flood came from somewhere in the pumpstack apparently. Also, I have no idea which lever should control the pumps/floodgates/whatever, due to a lack of notes and the fact that with Erica tantruming all over I've had to replace several levers.

Oh dear... someone didn't replace the wall after removing that nethercap, did they?  And you should've just left the levers gone if Erica broke them - now we won't know which ones work and which don't.

't'

The ones that have additional mechanisms in them work. The ones that don't... don't.

Which named dorfs have died?

I think only Mitch died of the named ones.

Dastotamud Overseer's log
22nd of Obsidian

I've built a new system to replace the axles I had deconstructed at the pumpstack. The new system also includes a single lever which can turn off both pumpstacks.

Also, the two drowned bodies have stopped pushing up miasma.

1st of Granite, 111

Obsidian was quite quiet. Good.

Spring has arrived. I have now been in command here for a year, and that is more than enough for me. I found the crundle leather tome at some point, and am now going to pass it on to someone else.

Try to figure the place out. There are some channeling designations a few levels beneath the quarry level to make the flooded-forge-and-smelter-stuffed-with-adamantine -area accessible again. Most important levers are marked. There are some pieces of gobbo clothing in the drown trap which prevent the outer floodgates from closing, so clear those out if at all possible.

Good luck.
