"Master" invader. What is it?
« on: November 16, 2011, 06:23:44 am »

So I've just been invaded by a goblin siege, lead by a 'master'. Is he the leader of the goblin race? He's a demon, made of vomit... unfortunately he dodged a single copper bolt and fell to his doom, so I couldn't capture him...
Will goblins no longer have a leader?

You're in luck. I once had a fortress decimated by a demon lemur, I had to capture him behind walls in exploratory mining corridors and he still trained goblin siege mounts telepathically.

EDIT: said demon was a gobbo master. No civ leader means no more mounts I think, but a new leader might rise.

Aww, that's a shame, I like watching cave crocodiles drown their riders! I think vomit is not a very substantial thing to be made of though, so it's not surprising. Thanks for the reply :)

Let me tell you the noob lesson story of the lemur demon:

That blasted lemur was the first demon I had come across so naturally I thought "I'll capture this beast for the glory of the fort!". I had my military lure this thing to my cage traps... that didn't work of course so I was like "CRAP! RAISE THE BRIDGE!". The thing sprinted straight through just before the bridge came up and my military started chasing it in circles around the halls of the fort, terrorising workers and such. Then I got it in a corner "I have you now little lemur!", the demon then breathed dust of death at about three of my best military dwarfs and idly scratched the arm clean off another one before running off again! This happened a few more times before I walled it in with a few doomed soldiers that were eventually mauled to death similarly.

This was a lemur... I love DF

Wow, a lemur of death indeed... What did you do with it once you had it walled in?

Iirc, I waited for it to die because it had been beaten up pretty bad, but then it healed. The fort was accidentally flooded during a well-constructing accident during a siege later on and I abandoned.

In response to OP, yes. Sometimes in worldgen a demon will take over goblin or human civilizations by posing as the avatar of one of their deities.

You should of Danger-Room trained the Demon Lemur to legendary in it's skills, then pitted it against a Dwarf Champion trained against hundereds of Captured Goblins.

the two master swordsman invaders really left nice swords when they died. A master axeman got stuck somehow, and a master lasher fled, aw

Goblins don't have deities, the clowns just beat up everyone until they are the rulers.
