Different tissue sets for castes within the same creature actually work now. I think.

Insect-based beastponies will probably have to be omitted from the initial 1.8 release. I can't find what's wrong with them now, as they just crash the game without any errors being logged.

The other beastponies are working.

Feral beast-alicorns have been joined as a single creature with multiple castes. They hunt in packs, too.

Also made several misc improvements (some in coding; also, "dull" spectra from non-pony spines)

Did you make sure to [APPLY_CURRENT_CREATURE_VARIATION]? I've seen that happen. Creature variations are often cause for issues like that.

Did you make sure to [APPLY_CURRENT_CREATURE_VARIATION]? I've seen that happen. Creature variations are often cause for issues like that.

I was going to say something stupid along the lines of "It could be the chitin not being used in the creature", but Putnam's probably got it right.

As a solution, I joined the bug-ponies into one creature and redefined them completely without the c_var.

Seems hard to believe, but I think I'm done with the beastponies.

There's no more errors, I've done improvements to the c_var file (reduced the total number of c_var's to just the single big one and tried to shrink that one down in size), the creatures don't suddenly die because their spines have melted...

Also, there's a creature with the "peaceful" insect pony castes (moth, slug, snail).

Well, at least it's not like this.

Well, these have been in the mod for some time now as siegers... :D

Dear Princess Celestia, I have upgraded the Rainbow Factory!

It has a new, modular structure now! Woo!

...So, it is four differently-functioning buildings now.
-Spectra Extractor now only does the extraction part, but accepts any kind of spinal tissue. Non-pony spines can now be refined into Dull Spectra, and alicorn spines are refined into Brilliant Spectra.
-Essence Distillery accepts the liquid containers with various Spectral Residues from the extractor and distills them into Spectral Essences. Previously this was done in the extractor.
-Rainbow Smelter creates rainbow and dark iron bars. Previously this was also done in the extractor. Now with two new (Dull and Brilliant) kinds of rainbow.
-Rainbow Enchantment Altar can create Brilliant Spectra bars from common spectra bars using Ether Orbs, two per bar.

Brilliant Rainbow has very high value and is now required to create Elementium.
Dull Spectra and Rainbow have low value and are good for individual quarters decoration for non-nobles.

Also:
-Mana Crystals are found everywhere in small clusters and prospected from the special minerals at the Taint Refinery. They can drained of energy to recieve Ether Orbs; you also get a Depleted Mana Crystal for decoration.
-Masterwork fuels (peat and anthracite) have been added.
-Creation of tens of taint-wood logs from a single timber wolf now not possible (probably). Created logs have to be processed into workable taint-wood logs at a rate of 5 for 1.

[UPD] Added all the new stuff to the main entities, tweaked the beast-pony entities. Which should actually *work* now (AFAIR, they haven't worked since Valentine's DF).
This is actually getting close to... dare I say, a release. Only have to make some new creatures that I wanted to add.
Now I'm (kind of) confident that I can get it done before the year's over.

Also there's several different creatures with [SPOUSE_CONVERTER].

Looking through the legends of a test-world, I've observed several generations of new megabeasts with spouse-conversion. The world stayed in an Age of Myths for 350 years (and would have stayed more, probably, if I hadn't interrupted the gen).

Nice.
