Welcome back to Infinite Space! Sorry for the short break, things seem to be working over here now.
Anyway, this one is gonna be kinda short, sorry about that. Like this last choice, there will be another one that affects what happens later in the game. Let us continue...

I forgot to mention it before, but Roubis has been assigned the Mechanic slot (as Karlo the Chief Mechanic has better skill than her), and HELP is now the Security Officer (Security Chief remains empty as Yuri is still one of the best melee fighters in the crew).

Anyway, there's an amusing scene upon re-entering the tavern here on Dodecanese:

Bar Patron: Hey, it's you guys again!

*As soon as the party enters the tavern, one of the customers jumps to his feet in a rage. It's apparently one of the gang that was beating up the trader before. He appears to be alone this time*

Bar Patron: C'mon! One of ya take me on, one on one! You ain't getting in until ya do!

We can have Yuri, Torlo, Nia, or Ian fight him. Let's see what happens each time, shall we?

If Yuri fights...

*fadeout. Fighting sounds are heard*

Bar Patron: (groans) Ya got me good...I guess I messed with the wrong person.

*The man leaves the tavern quietly*

A similar thing happens with Torlo and Nia. Ian, on the other hand...

Bar Patron: Ha ha! How do ya like them apples?! And now you can pay my tab, too! Pay up, and then get the Grus outta here!

You had to pay a 50G tab! You were thrown out of the tavern!

And yes, you do lose the money. Sure, it's chump change to us, but it's the principle of the thing!

Well, there's nothing left to do here for now. Let's head back to civilization; perhaps we'll find some work to do. We begin flying back to Chios, when suddenly...

: Yuri, there's a battle taking place ahead.

: A battle? Here? Is somebody fighting some pirates or something?



It's nearly impossible to get a screenshot, but it looks like two fleets are facing off and shooting at each other.

: Those are Kalymnos Sector Security Agency ships.

: So that means they must be fighting the Kreios Pirates. They're outnumbered, though.

: Yuri, look!



In the midst of the fighting, it looks like two ships have pulled alongside each other. Odd.

: So that's it, eh? The pirates are right in the middle of attacking a private passenger ship. What do ya wanna do, kiddo?

: (...)

• Attack the pirates fighting the security forces
• Defend the passenger ship

The choice we make here determines which of two as-yet unknown characters will join us in the future. As far as I know, it doesn't prevent us from accessing certain ship or module designs later.

Attacking the pirates gets us someone who can boost fleet attack range or Livability via cooking.
Defending the passengers gets us someone who can reduce expenses or boost Mobility.

Now, let's try to avoid meta-gaming, people. Just pick the option that feels right to you
