Removing fired/broken bolts

How do you do it? I can mark them for dumping but it doesn't do anything.

Depends on where they are. If they are outside, wait for the rain, it will deal with them.

If they are inside, Magma.

You cannot. The only way of removing them is building a road over them.

Thanks for the replies. Are there any 3rd party programs I can use? I don't really want to magma my fortress or re-engrave everything.

If you don't want to deal with that, then just use D-B-H to hide them.

Just realized I've made a mistake, the objects I were trying to remove were fired but whole bolts. They automatically start off as forbidden so my dwarves did not move them. DFhack does indeed remove broken bolts.

Under set (o)rders -> (F)orbid you can set your dwarves to claim used ammunition by pressing (p).
That way you don't have to manually claim them.
