What will Necromancy entail?
« on: October 08, 2011, 02:18:57 pm »

I've been out of the loop regarding the upcoming update, can someone fill me in on what necromancy will be like? How do adventurers learn the secrets of this black art? And once learned, how is it used? Is it a ritual, or a case of point at corpse, corpse gets up?

Sorry, not sure if this should be in gameplay questions since it's not been added yet, so feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place :)

From what I gather, secrets are engraved on tablets by necromancers/gods, and people can read the tablets to learn the secret.

The raising will be a matter of pointing at a corpse and making a zombie AFAIK

The secrets of life and death given by the gods? that sounds awesome. Will the moment it happens be recorded in the history of the world to check out in legends? I certainly hope so :P

New bugs!

Hah, true enough :P They'll be quirky though, I'm pretty sure Toady is taking time to make sure he gets all of the game-breaking ones before release, this time. Speaking of which, does anyone have a vague idea of when it'll be released? I get the feeling it will be soon. In time for Halloween would be appropriate :P

Personally, I look forward to having my own army of severed arms.

Read the current development logs on the main page. You might also be able to find out a little more in the Future of the Fortress links in the current development logs.
