My adventurer from my fort (I switched using DFmode) has been struck by a bug that makes him teleport and body swap constantly. It sounds cool, but trust me, it's not. How do I stop this madness?

okay your another victim of quantum leap.
first off this "bug" happens when you swap to a creature who isn't started from adventure mode. seeing how you flip from fort mode you not playing an adventurer thus the game searches for one.
 other reason is that there a creature list and '0' slot  is the adventurer slot for the game when you play adventure mode the character gets mark with a flag/something that keeps them in that slot when they travel or sleep any other creature just randomly jumps around the list. the solution is to pick up Dfusion and perma save the character(either by tools/adv change or if playing an old version of dfusion advtools/perma adventure swap) for the rest of the playthrough(saving the game will remove the effects and you can't retire the swap character you can dump the character back to the fort you play and swap to an random animal and kill them off instead.)

How I can use DFmode? Everything I get is some black map parts and no menus.

well if you go into esc swap the game to fort mode or adventure mode then save  you can transfer over to the new mode with little to no hassle.
going from adv to fort mode has one more hoop to jump, you need to be on a playable fort to make the switch and even then you also need to remove is resident on the locals. there also the thing about retiring fortress and preventing them to scatter(the first can be done by switching to adv. mode(fort mode first) in the esc menu and ending the game as an adventurer second was already turn into a feature in dfhack and dfusion) but I told my self to stop pimping my guide.

What if at a point whilst You're controlling your own body you retire? then just go back in, like turning it off and on again?

once you enter your original body the quantum leaping stops. retiring won't do anything different. Also you can't retire in a body swap body this also goes for swapping modes too due to we haven't figure out how to get the game to retire any one.
