Keep sailing.

I know that sounds horrible, but honestly, what more can anyone do?

I've learned to push communication really hard.  Therefore, my advice is to talk to people.  Don't be afraid of looking stupid; this is part of how you learn and probably won't hurt anything too significant by doing it.  Start by talking to those real friends.  Even if you do something stupid or foolish, your real friends won't hold it against you.  Others will probably disagree with me here, but I strongly believe that you'll have to talk to the girl about this eventually.  Maybe not right away, but eventually.  Especially if you ever hope for anything to happen.  Schools of any level will have some form of Counselling Services.  They can help you deal with this well enough that it doesn't adversely affect school too badly.  They can also help you with your talk with people and make friends.  Furthermore, they can help you with your specific situation.  Strongly consider it.

Also, what Vector said.  Never lose hope.

Normally it doesn't take this long for me to think about what I'm typing,
because I'm referring to a game, not real life

Not sure if you mean by this "just kidding" or something else, but I'll respond assuming the post is serious.

Quote
I like this girl, and I don't know what to do,

Try telling her instead of random people on the internet.

Quote
and I need advice, not just any advice though.

It's generally easier to give useful advice when specific questions are asked.

Quote
I have only three real friends

Why is having three real friends a problem? In my experience, most people have fewer than this. And people who have more, don't actually have more friends, they have more acquaintences.

Quote
I'm losing my mind, and I need help.

Why are you losing your mind?

Quote
my subconscious mind has other plans

On this I can offer advice with a fair degree of confidence: when your subconscious speaks, listen. It might not always be comfortable, but being at odds with your own self has the potential to be extremely hurtful and destructive.

Quote
I feel terrible

So feel terrible. Matters of the heart rarely respond well to things like reasons or solutions. If you feel the need to feel terrible, then feel terrible. Instead of fighting it, allow it. Find a nice quiet, private place and wallow in tears and misery. Cry and squeeze your pillow and shudder uncontrollably.

Don't feel guilty about this.

Accept it. Absorb it. Go ahead and feel terrible. It's ok. Let it out.

Chris Maclean stands on the edge of a pier, on looking as a yacht in the distance approaches, giving his signature smile to the camera mounted to the pole in front of him
“This season, on Total Drama, we’re out in the Atlantic Ocean, on a tropical – Wait a second, what are you doing here already,” Chris turns to a blue haired girl, who was already standing at the dock
“I live here, remember?”
“Very well, time to introduce our first contestant, Flow”

Confessional: Flow
“I’ve already won this season; I know this place like the back of my hand.”
The first yacht arrives, and Maclean begins to speak, “Since you’ve already ruined my introduction, shall we introduce our second Contestant, Cornelius?”
He steps out of the yacht, standing very straight and proper, “No need, I wouldn’t have your filth disgracing my name, would I? My name is Cornelius VanGeriks, I am from the very prestigious, and very rich VanGeriks family”
Flow holds out her hand, to shake Cornelius’s but, he yelps and jumps backwards.

Confessional: Cornelius
*Clearly shaking* “Did you see that, it almost touched me!  Chris had better control these…pigs.”
The host speaks again, “Alright, next we have…Gray”
“H-h-hi everyone, M-my name is Gray,” says a very small girl, wearing mostly drab, gray colors, apparently to draw attention away from herself, but only making herself stand out more.
“Great, more of the lower class. Please don’t touch me.”
“Moving on,” says the host, “Renee is next, we don’t really know if she auditioned on purpose or not, but who cares?”
“Well, where is this filth?”
Chris grumbles, “Hold on,” and climbs onto the boat, and haphazardly drags a sleeping Renee onto the dock, and drops her beside the others.
“I-i-is she dead?”
“No, this is how we found her, how she auditioned, and how she remained the entire trip here. I’m not even kidding. She sleeps like a rock.”
“May I ask? Where will I be staying; because I refuse to stay at any hotel less than four stars, and four is pushing it.”
“There are no hotels, only cabins. You’d be lucky if anything here is even one star, speaking of which, Cain”
A hefty leap from the yacht jolts the entire pier, and its source speaks with a hateful, booming voice “So this is my competition?”
“Afraid so, do you see a problem, commoner?” Replied Cornelius.
“Heh, I’ve got no problem with being the winner”

Confessional: Cain
“Wow, they are weak. Maybe someone will come along and make this at least half-fair. Doubt it”
“Allow me to introduce Darren”
A snarling, drooling boy crawls out of the boat, walking toward the others on the dock on all fours like a dog.
“Yeah, the insane asylum said they’d pay us if we kept him here. Hope you have fun with him, I’m certain he’ll have fun with you.”
He goes up to Cain, and growls at him, but Cain bops Darren in the nose, making him sit on the ground, whimpering.

You should say what you should say.

If we feed you lines, it will no longer be what you should say.  So think on it, for a while.

You may look stupid while talking. I just did today. So what? Nobody cares about it. To some people you may even seem hearty. You will improve your social skills by socializing. So you just have to talk to people. Also, talking with no purpose is worse than looking stupid while talking. If you want to make friends there are good conservation-openers. Like, if you are going to school you can ask about subject to your classmate.

About the girl, if you don't know about her too much don't get much excited. There was a girl that I really liked. After discovering her personality I didn't even want to stay close to her. If you are really sure about your feelings, try to befriend her and make small talk. Simply starting with a "good morning" can lead to a conservation. However, while starting a conservation avoid close-ended questions. Questions like "It's so cold today isn't it?" are close-ended questions because they will lead to dead end. If you ask a question that has to be anwered... well, it will be answered and may lead to a deeper conservation. "Hey, where did you get that hat/book/bag?" is a good question for example. Though it may not work for the opposite gender if you are talking about clothings :D

Good luck

what I should say.

What you say is sometimes not as important as how you say it. The cleverest line, delivered awkwardly, will generally be appreciated less than the clumsiest words delivered warmly and genuinely.

Imagine the girl you like...

a) Looking at you, then frowning and looking at the ground. She looks up with a glare, scowls, then spits on the ground and with arms crossed and clenched teeth she mumbles out "I love you."

Now, wipe that from your mind, and instead imagine her...

b) Making tentative eye contact, then blushing and looking away. But then she smiles at the ground, and delicately looks up with just her hopeful eyes. After a brief moment, the rest of her face looks up to meet yours and as she does her smile grows across the whole of her face. Her eyes brighten. She involuntarily leans closer to you, unable to help herself. She gently reaches out, touching the inside of your arm, and you hear her breathing speed up as she does. Unable to speak, she lets out a totally unintelligible squeek.

Which would mean more to you? Why should it be any different for her?

Don't worry about what to say. Open your heart and let it shine on her. Don't feel the need to create something artificial to present to her. Simply open up whatever is inside of you, and allow her to see it.

to make the point of looking stupid:
i once was invited with my brother in a group with one of my close friend and a bunch of other guys my close friend knew (i knew them too for various reasons, but more as acquantainces than anything else).
we are walking and end up near an animal shop, and a girl from the group comes up with "think if they have snakes and they end up in a house" to which i immediately reply with a headline from a journal (it's my nervous tick, whenever someone somewhere speaks about something, if i can relate it to a recent news I HAVE to connect the dots out loud) so there i went with "yeah, it was on the newspaper yesterday, an anaconda was found alive in a house WC by a nine years old, she had gone through the sewers. the anaconda not the nine year old" to which silence followed. My close friend a couple of days later commented on how that phrase was inappropriate due to female being presents, and to how one of the "acquaintances" commented later "look, the brother you can reinvite him easily, but not him, really, it was inappropriated". the close friend dumped that group since then.
because not only he was a close friend, he was and IS a good friend. and most probably if they can speak at the back of someone, they can do it also about yourself when you are not there. and my friend is all for the direct approach. Which is extremely rare in this kind of age.

Yeah, you look like you're in the exact same position as me.

Stuff I've learned so far:
Relationships at 13 last a few months at most.

Wait until 17-18 before trying to get a girlfriend, as then you actually know that you like them and not the crapton of chemicals in your brain that are constantly yelling "Sex! Seeexxxx!". Once putberty's done and you arn't a walking sack of drugs, then try.

Don't come out and say that you like them, that ends in laughing and people seeing you as a creep.

I second this.

I had some really good advice from a guy I worked with when I was 16. I was a geek, working in a computer store building new systems and handling repairs.

Quote from: Eric
I get that you want a girlfriend, or that you love this girl. I get it. Thing is, she's your age, and that means she is probably not going to take you seriously. Girls that young all want an older guy, that's just the way it is. Once they're 24+, then they don't care about that as much. When you're older, it will be so different you will wonder why you wasted your time now. Just enjoy being younger, play games, learn useless and/or random stuff!

In my experience, this has been true. Once I hit 20, suddenly dating girls my own age was easier. I'm 29 now, and am married to the kindest, most beautiful woman I've ever seen. And now we have a baby boy, and things are really just so awesome that every day I am grateful, and paranoid that I'm really in a coma, and this is all in my head.
