Is Occupy dead? Because it looks to me like Occupy is dead right now.

Occupy is not headlining news right now. It's still very much alive in this rather rural part of the country, so I assume it's still around elsewhere. There have been tales of Occupy our Homes being quite successful, but there isn't the rampant police brutality going around as much anymore. The Spokane group is still running a large march every Saturday, and that's nowhere near the biggest. There's someone in my congressional district running for Occupy against the Republican incumbent, and he's getting oodles of support. I have never seen so many yard signs for an independent candidate. I'm helping him raise funds for a commercial in the coming election, even. It'll be the first serious challenger to the Republican dominion of this area in a good, long while. A fight I don't plan on missing.

I'm marching. It's only 45 miles, or about 75km. I could cover that in six hours, if I were truly motivated to run the whole way. Marching it might take two days or so.

If it involves lots of people, double that expectation at least. Crowds are slow.

The Media generally isn't covering the Occupy thing... which is a valid tactic if you don't want it to get exposure...

There's still plenty going on.  The major camps are what drew the most attention, and they've mostly been evicted.  Most cities still hold temporary reclamations and events here and there.  There was a reclaiming of Liberty Park in NY on New Year's that looked pretty successful.  I've relaxed a bit on my up-to-dateness of the whole movement, mostly because of Steam's holiday sale.  I feel dirty saying it that way, but I thought I'd be honest.  I'm still collecting links every day and have a decent backlog of stuff to catch up on.  I'll post highlights here sometime in the near future.

For now, here's a guy getting arrested at the Supreme Court just for wearing a jacket that says "Occupy Everything" on the back.

Opinions on Obama's State of the Union address, in which he spoke about investigating predatory loaning?

Victory for Occupy, in my opinion. I signed an Occupy petition to ask him to do exactly that about two weeks ago, it must have gotten around more since then. When I signed it it had over 50,000 signatures, but that was just the first day.

Occupy Oakland livestream here, it's been going for a while. Crazy police presence and arrests going on.

Something interesting to note: earlier it was being broadcasted on ABC and they made sure to fade out the second the police started firing tear gas and didn't come back until it had all dissipated.

Some pictures from today: 1 2 3 4 5 6.

E: 20 arrests so far. Apparently three police officers have been injured and one has been sent to a hospital.

E2: Another stream, of City Hall. A flag had been burned there, apparently, and people were inside. A lot of anger.

It doesn't look 100%, but the guy who nearly killed Scott Olsen has supposedly been identified...

This guy is going to catch some serious hell...

So did anyone ever identify where all the money came form to support these Occupy Protests?
