Are there any other decent sites for OWS specific news besides occupywallst.org? That site has been a great source of until recently... Now, however, they're mostly posting things along the lines of thank-yous and congratulations. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd like to have a source for news regarding actual events, dates of assemblies, days of action, etc.

29 Companies That Paid Millions For Lobbying (And Didn't Pay Taxes)

Here is the .pdf link mentioned in the story. The .pdf from Public Campaign

Meanwhile:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Huge U.S. corporations are forming lobbying groups to try to influence what could become the hottest congressional debate over comprehensive tax reform in a generation.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Money speaks most influentially in our politics.  I wish I could lobby to pay less personal income tax, but I think I'd spend way more lobbying then what I could save with no taxes.

Is anyone here intending to do anything to support the "Occupy Congress" action on the 17th?

I'm assuming it's SOPA-related?  I may be wrong.

No, just looked it up. Its a protest on the national lawn in Washington DC. Afraid I can't make it up that way.

There has been a very ambitious call for 1,000,000 occupiers to converge on DC on the 17th.  I think it started on G+ about a month ago.  I was the first person to like the page :P

Wish I could actually go.

I doubt they'll get a million, but I expect it to be fairly large.

Fuck yeah! Occupy the Caucuses actually got going. (My town's Occupy group sent a couple people there.) I'm not able to make it across the country, but I hope CSPAN starts picking them up some more. The news has been trying to avoid them.

To be honest, if I were president, I'd most likely increase military spending. Why? Because going through the military seem to be the only way to do socialist projects over there without people turning into giant babies. Roads/trainways and infrastructure falling apart? Obvious home front strategic weakness -> military infrastructure project. Kids failing school and obesity becoming too common? Can't have too many fat and stupid people or the manpower number will shrink too much -> school and health projects.

There's no end to all the excuses you could make up to get completely non-military things done. And what kind of unpatriotic, unamerican person would protest?

Hehe, I get what you're saying, but overall military spending needs to decrease.

Also, what the fuck is that "Occupy the Caucuses" thing?

A huge crowd of Occupiers showing up at every major event in the 5 primary states. At the moment they're traversing Iowa.

I expect the national convention protests to be impressive this year.

The first one is how Eisenhower got the national interstate highway system funded. Ike was a smart motherfucker.
The second one has sort of been floated, but didn't go anywhere. Michelle Obama flat out stated that childhood obesity was a national security threat, and Republicans just snickered and pointed. Meanwhile, several retired generals agreed with her, and nobody noticed.  :-\

And then his farewell address:  "I'm telling you about this military-industrial complex.  I'm warning you, bro."
