I toss the book aside, frustrated.  It lands in the third pile, next to the door.  I've been poring over my books for information on what the buck might have happened to Friesden, but nothing was helping.

"Why do I have no information on anything like this?!"

I pace, growing more anoyed by the moment at my lack of knowledge.

'Ponies do not just sprout tentacles!'

I shake my head, and leave my and Friesden's chambers.

'Istlig knows something.  It's time I asked her what's going on.'

[Telgin]

Kris wakes to a dull pain in her side that fluctuates with each breath.  Everything is a bit hazy, a side effect of some magic the doctors had used on her, but she eventually works up the courage to look over to her mother.  Falcata is asleep, but her face still bears the troubled expression she had worn since the commissar had brought her here.

Guilt wells inside her again.  Her mom was so upset when she was brought to the hospital... she never wanted to see that look of horror on her mom's face again.  She could stand her being angry at her, but this was something so much worse.

She prepares to turn over and return to sleep when she spies Lilac sitting against the far wall of the hospital.  The guilt is replaced for a moment with elation.  The filly had nearly gotten them killed, but she was very happy to see that she was alright.

"Lilac?" she calls, propping herself up with a bit of difficulty.

[Dsarker]

"Yes, I did. Friesden is there still, captain. Worry not. But the daemon will not be back."

[Impending Doom]

"...oh..."

Okay, maybe there was more than one thing it could mean.

It was at this moment that Otik elected to wake.

"Ugh... Wha..."

[Dsarker]

"Could be anything from one to ten days till she wakes. Go get some sleep."

[Khenal]

"Well, this is supposed to be the place."

I knock on the door.

[Impending Doom]

"Where... am I? Wha' happened?"

Starkey rushes to her side.

[Dsarker]

((I'm confused as to where everyone is now.))

[Impending Doom]

((Sounds like this is some time later, and Otik and Friesden have been moved to another room after the incident in the barracks.))

[Khenal]

((I have no idea.  I thought Istlig and Starkey were either in the hospital or Istlig's quarters with Friesden around somewhere, but it looks like I'm so very wrong.))

[Dsarker]

((I thought we were still in the chapel.))

[Impending Doom]

((There is no chapel. Just a little triptych (fold-out wall thingy with carvings n' shit.) in the barracks.))

[Dsarker]

((The triptych, then.))

[Khenal]

((Right, the triptych.  Now I remember.  Khenal's knocking on the barracks door, since he doesn't have any actual position to simply go in.))

[Dsarker]
