I would love to see this come back.  Maybe if Mullet doesn't want to run it I could take over?

yea, you were prety much runing at least half the show anyway. Even if the game ends, you can continue the *story*, which is what people really care about getting closure to.

I've never actually run a suggestion game though and don't really know how to do it.

I'm willing to conclude this game, or at least get it to a point where someone else can do what they want with it. This will be a few more turns, minimum.
But... I have a really bad week ahead of me as far as real life work goes ( I'm working a shift I'm not normally used to, plus 11 hour days ).
My only other game at the moment is also on hold until I get back to a more sane schedule.

As I said, I at least is fine with it becoming a non-interactive work of literature. Just a story, no game, so knowing how to run one is not needed.

EXCERPTS FROM PERSONAL JOURNAL OF CEO URIST

3 SANDSTONE 3200 -
Today Auroch and I rallied what few workers we had left and smelted what was necessary to meet the Aesylus guild steel order. The steel is of fantastic quality - Auroch might be the finest metallurgist alive today.  The elves will probably not recognize this at all.

4 SANDSTONE 3200 -
The trucks pulled away with our completed order, and we were forwarded enough money by the guild to make the payroll for this week. The workers are rolling slabs of low grade steel in anticipation of the order from the council.

5 SANDSTONE 3200 -
Called Datan. Left a message with his secretary - he's out of the nation for a while? I wonder why. Dismissed five dwarves today - we aren't going to be able to make payroll next week unless some serious cuts are made. I am glad the ogre works for free.

8 SANDSTONE 3200 -
Work has progressed in the factory. We've sold some steel ingots, for enough money to keep the lights on and one smelter running.
There's only 10 full time dwarves now, and the ogre. The offices are completely empty other than mine. This makes the fifth night in the row I've slept here.

10 SANDSTONE 3200 - I dismissed the secretary and the guard. I don't think this company is going to make payroll at the end of the week. We have shut down the smelter.

11 SANDSTONE 3200 - Another call to Datan returns unanswered.  I have sold one of our forging presses to an elvish craft guild. They are dismantling it just to scrap it.  I don't know the meaning behind this.

15 Sandstone, 3200 - The Ogre and I are the last two here - we didn't make payroll today.  The remainder of our dwarves stormed out, likely to never return to the company. I promise money to Auroch to stand watch over the adamantium.

21 Sandstone 3200 - Benthammers doors have been shut for the past week, unable to make payroll. The deal with Bomrek has not came through yet - it is caught in bureaucracy, namely a squabble with an ultra-ultra conservative dwarf named Kadol Degfab. I drove to Datan's office today, and he is nowhere to be found. It is said he is on business with one of the elvish concerns, and this worries me.

30 Sandstone 3200 - I am delivered a letter via courier today that the Dwarven Council has summoned me to come to the emergency session tonight. It seems one of my comrades is in serious trouble...

When the council hall was built, it took some of the finest masons that the Dwarves could muster to make the room into a perfect granite hemisphere. It was - by far, the most accurate and impressive Dwarven structure ever built. The hemisphere has a perfectly uniform radius, with no point on the periphery being farther out than a single fingernail's width. The creation of this building spawned a dozen innovations in engineering just to build it, and nothing has been built like it since. When it was completed, it was filled hundreds of soapstone seats, walnut tables, and adamantine lighting fixtures. Only a few hundred dwarves have actually seen the inside during a meeting but almost every Dwarf alive has a picture of it somewhere in their house.

There's a bright acetylene spotlight focusing on you, a hellish flame reflected on your face to keep you disoriented. You are definitely not here as a friend of the council. You aren't even sure you have an ally in Bomrek anymore, but there's no other choice. Armed guards waited outside your office and put you in a truck, and brought you here almost as soon as the courier left the building.

A voice calls from somewhere outside your field of vision, on the edges of the bright light burning your eyes. It's a councilman, sitting at a soapstone table with other councilmen.

"Datan Morulsanreb was found dead yesterday in Aesylus Corporate headquarters. Urist, there are a dozen other Dwarves who said you have been having some meetings with him."

Another voice calls out, this time from your right. "That has been confirmed, his secretary said you have left multiple messages for him lately. "
A female voice calls out from the back of the room, "You have had problems with Aesylus, we know that Benthammers was very late on a shipment...."

The voices start to mutiply, and suddenly the room is enveloped in loud conversation. A gong is rang to quiet the room, and the chatter reluctantly dies down. One voice comes from the center. You recognize this voice to be the one of Kadol Degfab, apparently Bomrek's biggest political opponent.

"Urist. You and Datan have been doing something, something... criminal. Because there are two Elvish craft guilds now at war with each other, and one of our countries most prominent bankers dead, undoubtedly at the hand of an elf. You are mandated to tell the council ... everything."

The acetylene lamp is slowly turned off, and the spots start to disappear from your eyes.

<<The game is back on. >>

As your eyes adjust to the light levels changing, you take a sip of Dwarven Rum from the glass in front of you. As the clamor dies down , you begin speaking.
"Dwarves of the Council. Countrymen, and allies in war. With all due respect - what is this meeting about today? I know of Datan, yes, it is true. We are esteemed friends. Perhaps he even even underwrote the loan for one of my automobiles... But this is absolutely ridiculous, that you accuse me of wrongdoing. It is very clear that I had no knowledge of Datan's business with the elves. "

A dwarf in one of the rearmost seats speaks out, but you don't recognize the voice.

"Urist, open the folder in front of you and view the evidence presented against you! You and Datan, purchasing stock in Benthammers... Is it not true that Benthammers is shut down currently?"

"We are only shut down for retooling." You respond, knowing very well well the truth. Every word spoken here today will be public record, and every newspaper will have a transcript included tomorrow. If you told the truth, then no business would ever deal with Benthammers... or you... again.

A female dwarf speaks up from the right hand side. "Retooling for what?"

((Oh snap!  Did not know this was back!))

"Patriotism"

Thinking on her feet Urist calmly spoke that single word and paused to let it sink in for effect.  She decided to milk it for all it was worth.  If they were going to make a show of her she might as well milk the platform for everything it's worth.

"I'm a simple dwarf unlike you honored dwarves of this chamber.  I've only ever worked for one thing.  I have for a long, long time; ever since... well ever since Kogan.  You honored council members remember the goblin wars.  You remember the Winter of Blood and how defenseless we seemed back then.  I'll never forget.  I'll never forget watching my brother Kogan, cut down before my eyes because we weren't prepared.  We weren't prepared."  Bitterly recalling the night from so long ago Urist spat out the memory to the council like an accusation.
"The blood of the best damn dwarf I ever knew seeped into the ground.  He was defenseless.  Our nation was defenseless.  You never forget a sight like that.  And you never, ever let a mistake like that happen again.  And so I work.  Day after day year after year I've toiled in our industries so that there still will be an industry to keep our nation strong."
"There's not much left of our proud city's industry.  Benthammers is the last of our mighty steel mills still running.  If it goes down we are back to the way things used to be.  No steel means no weapons.  We are defenseless once more.  The elves know this, the goblins know this.  Everybody seems to know it but the dwarves."
"Benthammers was being retooled because sooner or later you dwarves on the council are going to need it again.  Someday this nation is going to turn itself around and when it does Benthammers will be there so that we aren't starting over completely from scrap.  But as long as this nation lies idle I have to work twice as hard just to keep the factory there for when things change.  So we retool to economize and to meet the demand that does exist.  We retool to keep lean through this winter because some of us remember what the future holds."
