Modular fortress [pics][updated]
« on: September 07, 2011, 08:18:39 pm »

as i love modular sistems and its easy to make modules in a grid like in DF, i developed some modules for easy and fast fortress designation, digging and building. all modules all 8x8 and 16x16 (i love these numbers :P)

the stone in the pics is not white stone, just generic stone representation.
also, i made the floor as smooth stone for easier visualization

Images made whit ASCII-paint

REQUEST: someone can make quickfort sheets for these?

Now whit example fortress:
http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-10699-masterlashes

HALLWAYS:
simple:

upgraded:

hub:

UTILITIE MODULES:
large room, can have 4 workshops:

4 of them can be linked to make a workshop cluster

for magma forges, channel the outer corners

that can be upgraded to link to storage above an below:

storage room:

basic irregular dorms (not recomended, i was just toying whit the design program):

large regular dorms and HaFRAs(HAppyness and Friendship Regulation Area):

open room module:

can be used as dining hall, as farming pods and fluid storage modules

THE FLUID DISTRIBUITION SYSTEM:
intake/pressure reductor:

just extend the single pipes to source

fluid redistribution module, open and closed: FRM

vertical tranmission shaft:

circular supported screw pump:

just rotate and stack this design

GATEHOUSES:
basic open/closed:

advanced, need secondary access:
1st open/closed:

2nd open/closed:

if YOU have compatible modules, feel free to post them

That's definitely a clean (OCD, if you use white rock like you do) way of running a fort - certainly appealing to some people.

Heh - I've taken attempts at making aperture science, black mesa, the citadel, all of that...

but never gone through. They are actually pretty damn hard to reproduce properly.

Here is my lineup:

Aerial faith plate = drawbridge

Turret = three gobbo archers on 1 tile.

Companion cube = dwarf with no arms, legs, teeth, etc.

Photobucket like the rest of us.  I've never heard anything good about mediafire.

We share the same sterile and clean-cut style of building you and I. Not like those silly circle-makers...

I like it, overall, except that everything of mine is odd numbered.  3 wide hallway, 5x5 room, etc.  Screw pumps are about the only things that are 2 tiles wide, all else fits onto an odd-numbered grid.

as i love modular sistems -snip- all modules all 8x8 and 16x16 (i love these numbers :P)

probably at least half the people on these forums do :P

wouldn't it be just FAWESOME if we could put blocks like these one wheels/rails so our fortress is modularly reconfigurable? with a dorfputer to make the changes....

*has dorfgasm and dies*

When/if we get moving fortress parts, my first goal is to make a reconfiguring fortress.  Complete with magma forges that dip down into the magma on command.

then a giant robot dragon fortress with ai from its in-game water-powered computer, that can get up, move about and spew magma at invaders
