I might make a squad of miners in order to fix our... training problem. This will mean Mormota and SHADE will be drafted, as well as all other high-skill miners.

What training problem? We're supposed to lose 10+ dwarves to every goblin invasion. Keeps the hauler population in check.

SHADE is nowhere to be found! he will elude drafting till death! he is pro peace! you must open up wide the caves and meet goblins unarmed and with wide open hugs!

With a dwarven musician at my side, who usually keeps me company most of my days, I stand alone amongst the stupidity and insanity of our race. And I will not have it any other way.

In order to continue our undeserved, selfish and illogical rule we need an equally insane defence. Just as we, the dwarves, strike the earth with our most holy of tools, we shall strike a blow to our enemies. This tool is that of the common dwarf; a tool which is easily learnt, a tool which we owe our homes to, and a tool whose power surpasses that of demons.

The pick. The common pick. Even one made from copper can do the impossible, see the invisible, touch the untouchable and break the unbreakable. I had drafted a full squad (something we do not have elsewhere) of miners to serve as our defenders until we can procure an ample supply of trained men and equipment.

Fitted in the most garments available to best protect them.

Led by previous overseer Mormota, our best miners do not need official training. What they will lack in defence they'll make up for in skill. And numbers. And soon, armour. Adamantine picks are a future plan.

55 strands, 0 wafers. Hmm. I'll fix that. Where are is the raw adamantine stockpile anyway...?

Oh how I hate the short-sightedness of rulers past. There are no raw adam stock piles. Stones are to be hauled FOUR HUNDRED steps PER FUCKING STRAND. I've ordered a stockpile forthwith. Seems to be no adam thread stockpile near the forges. Fixed that too. Idlers went from 40 to 0. Excellent.

That is quite cool. Except it's about the creation of a masterwork nickel trash can. Uh... I've added it to the dining room so all dwarves can see this artifact... about a less-than-artifact.

Speaking of which I had nickel bins running on auto. So I guess that is a tribute to me. God bless.

Hmm, one of the residents is unhappy. Seems his mum died. And he saw it. And her body was mangled in the forge. And we can't retrieve it. So it rotted. And he smelt it.

Oh well nothing I can do now except make his dining room nice. Wait no, her mother is the one that died of thirst at random in the dining room a while back. And for some reason her body was forbidden. Uhh...

Ordered first row of weapon traps using masterwork mechanisms and the highest quality sledgehammers. OK, they're not that great, but they're our first step on our road to a legendary weaponsmith. That or we can get a mood (pretty please?).

'Shade' requested leave from the military; apparently he's a pacifist. I promptly told him to lick an elf anus.

Miners still too slow. Arena not done, houses not done, 2nd excavation (failed to mention) not done. Ughhhhh-

Humies! A diplomat too!

I'll order booze, wood, bismuth bars (for the noble) and seeds. I hope they don't get ambushed.

Ah, spoke to soon, no goblins. They had no bismuth, fuck.

Did you guys turn invasions off?!

Checked, they're still on. This fucking baffles me how I havn't seen any.

No goblins... suspicious. Though I cant say I blame them; this place is a shit heap. Two caravans, no ambushes. That just leaves the autumn dwarven caravan. Oh god they're going to kill our kin!

We must prepare. We need to defend the dwarven caravan.

Just noticed Sirian without a right arm or leg. Darn. Otherwise the military dwarves are returning to training; the syndromes have worn off.

I literally just bought 124 pieces of wood. I think that will last us a fair while.

Ran out of raw adamantine. Perhaps I can open the magma sea and see into the magma to find veins?

I tried it and yes, I can. Excavation of an adamantine spire is now underway.

Two births; I don't care. Babies make terrible workers, even when they come of age (and if they manage to then we've done a bad job). Forges and smelters not running constantly; mandated more furnace operators. Not like it's a specialised labour; skill affects speed. And any speed is faster then none.

Dumbass miners got stuck in a hole (the throwing pit). Much displeased. Can't believe it's still only Autumn.

Wait, Autumn? The caravan is coming and we are not ready. Most miners are unarmed and unarmoured; ordered iron picks. We don't have enough weaponsmiths. Poor early organisation is to blame.

Another random death regarding to thirst. Corpse was forbidden for some reason too. Again. What on earth is happening? I'm fucking baffled. Perplexed even.

No seriously why did two people just die of thirst in a dining room when we have 300 units of booze and I think a well? Why are their bodies forbidden on death?

An animal trainer has been possessed. Apart from... animal training, his only other skill is farming. Either he's going to make an artifact dog-warrior or a fucking mushroom. Please let it be a dog. Ok, he took a craftman's shop. Even worse then a mushroom. At least people can see the mushroom.

A metalsmith has risen and is haunting the fortress! You know, despite my new trail of coffins. I suppose the idiot leaned too far forward into the magma forge. Fucking nonces, that's what these people are. I ordered slabs a fair while back; shouldn't be too hard to get a memorial for this tosser.

Scratch the memorial his corpse was 'forbidden' too. Okay, what? I'm... confused.

The dining room is a fucking mess. Rocks everywhere. I'll fix it. Shame on whoever made this dining room, it looks like a disaster zone.

Migrants. One 'adequate' weaponsmith, the others FUCKING USELESS AGAIN. I hate this place.

No seriously why did two people just die of thirst in a dining room when we have 300 units of booze and I think a well?

Have you set them to stick with burrows? Booze stockpiles forbidden? Locked doors? Messed up staircases? Injured dwarves with inaccessible well?

Why are their bodies forbidden on death?

Check the orders / forbid menu (hit o, then F). In my turn I had them all set to forbid to prevent haulers running into battles.

To reclaim a forbidden corpse and all the items the dorf had, hit d-b and paint the area where the corpse is.

No burrows or locked doors, but cheers for o,F. And yeah, i've been d-bing for reclaim.

PS. Tevish Szat, a previous overseer failed to mention you've died. Then named you, 'Flesh Husk'. I don't know what that's about.
I was wandering why our medical dwarf wasn't you, but then I looked through the dead list and you're in the middle of it, meaning it would have happened some time before me. Redorf?

There are two Tevishes. His first dorf died on his turn and he did a brain transplant to Tevish Szat II, who was still the chief medical dorf before your turn.

Mitch's overseer log. Mid-Autumn.

Okay lets start this off with a fizzle. Ghost was put to rest, ordered some cages, placed a new grizzly cage in the zoo.
Forges are churning nicely; silver warhammers nearly done.

Installing second row of traps. Considering putting a roof over the cage traps so we don't get sick from going outside to reinstall them, though I do like the thought of blood, guts and vomit all over my front door.

Ordered iron and adamantine picks, only a few. Turns out not all miners are equipped. Ran out of silver, but not ore. Fuckin' double-time you jerks...

37 wafers and 30 strands. We've got enough for weapons and some armour; and thus were ordered. 5 adamantine swords, spears, axes and picks. 10 breastplates and 10 greaves. It will work... for now. I believe in quality over quantity, so if I had my way we'd lose about 3 squads and the two remaining would be legendary. More survivors; less equipment.

Some asshole reindeer scared off a mechanic and stepped into a cage trap. He shall be the first to test my arena.

Looks nice, eh?
Couldn't get bismuth, mayor was displeased. I don't care. Some stonecrafter; 80 days in prison. A mere semen-stain on the blouse of progress.

I created a masterpiece adamantine armour because I'm great.

This is probably the least eventful season, ever. So much for 'having to defend the caravan'... Come on goblins, where you at?

Well, after a long time milling about, they came! Huzzah! Oh shit!

And 10 trolls and 4 more spearmen after that. Elite bowmen? Oh my...

This is gunna be FUN.

Here they come... Lord, guide my traps...

Oh my. They work.

They work well! Two lines of high-quality traps save the day!
Bodies everywhere; a lot of them caged. Many fled.

Imagine this, but it happened about 20 times over. Mine is the road to glory

A lone goblin stands on the bridge in defiance. I hate goblin defiance. I order the bridge raised! He slips out under it and breaks his legs. I order it lowered again and it crushes his skull and bits of brain explode out of the top of his head.

Ew...

A werewolf stalks the outside. Oh how I do wish he'd get caged. Anyone else want a werewolf in their living area?

The wood stockpile has been expanded on account of over 100 wood left in the stockpile. We shall not want for wood! Ordered a third row of traps.

Ordered all goblin militia and trolls to be thrown into the pit. Decided against reindeer due to possible escape.

No fatalities from the fall, but many injuries. The recruits, despite lacking in any defensive skill, kill them all without incident.

That guy has fucking spunk. With kills to their name I trust in these men to defend this place (unless someone fucks it up).

And lets end it with a bang.

Just noticed this, but yeah it was weird.

Uggi's turn: Nothing but a few goblin snatchers

My turn: Cugo and PalsTM, goblin invasion (which increased our kill count to a grand total of 2 before running away), and the giant that liked to step into cage traps.

Mitch's turn: One goblin invasion in autumn.

Does anyone else see the problem here?
