Making Aquarium?

Ok... so I have captured some live fish, and have them in some traps.

From there, how do I make an aquarium with those live fish? I tried assigning them to cages but they don't turn up in the cage menu.

Are you certain that the fishing zones are all marked as Active?

For this, I think you need to build a glass cage, and then designate it as an aquarium.  Your dwarves will then fill it with water.  You then should be able to assign your captured live fish to it.

I'm right now adding a 8th floor to my skyscraper - making walls and floors in patterns of microcline and cobaltite. (and kimberlite once I get it).

+ Clear glass terrariums + Fresh Fish from local river = Awesome.

Now gotta get some olivine to pair with my siltstone to make a green and brown jungle-themed zoo.

Using nether-cap and fungiwood to create some sand - the floor of my aquarium will look like a beach \o/

The aquarium is just a built glass cage. I don't think that goblins are intelligent enough to be impressed by a wall of glass boxes with fishes inside.

I thought you could only catch vermin fish with the capture live fish command? If that's not the case I ought to replace my magma pit with a shark pit.

I think so. But you can build a damn, then spam cage traps. Open the damn, and let hell come head first.

You have not truly experienced dwarf fortress if you haven't built a wall of lamprey-filled aquariums in your dining room.
