((yep, calling an intermission for me too. Night guys. :P ))

Reyhana followed Sarah through the tunnels. She felt much of the same-terrified that something would come from behind and snatch her into the dark, which had returned, impenetrable as before. She felt, at any morment, she would feel a clammy something, that couldn't quite be called a hand, grab onto her leg...and she would have no time to scream, as it dragged her back, to an unspeakable maw...Hells fire, blazing within.

And what was that sound? A voice. "Poor little Reyhana...Your God has abandoned you..."

There was also a stealthy clanging...no matter how fast she went, it was always right behind her...it was...it was...

The Bells. She was wearing bells on her ankle. A gift from her mother. Her father was proud of her-inheriting them...her family was still out there...waiting for her to come back. Whatever strength she had, Reyhana felt it coming back to her. She was still afraid, but now the helpless terror she was feeling began to dim-and, as if by miracle, the overhead lights came back on. Was it divine intervention?

Or perhaps, it was like how a sadistic Cat may let it's helpless prey go for a moment, to try and run away, amused by the chase...only to catch it again.

Reyhana found the courage to speak once again.

"Sarah, I'm with you still...I hope you have a plan. Whatevers going on here...it isn't natural...it's evil..."

Sarah looked up at the lights. Something was off here. Overhead lights don't just flick on like that after a blackout. Something was off.
"You think you have a plan? Look at the frightened girl. You are going to destroy her."
"Reyhana, I do have a plan for this. I've had a plan for this ever since I got on this colony. I knew some shit would stir up. Terrorists, or insanity, or just some sort of experiment or something. Do not tell anyone this, but I managed to get some firepower onto this base. Possibly enough to fuel a small war. I have a lot of weapons in the saferoom, we just need to get to it."
"You'll never get to it."
The tunnel shifted for Sarah. Now she was walking through the streets of plague covered Barcalona. The sky was red from the fires and the sound of coughing and vomiting and the soft thwack of another body hitting the pavement. She was a teenager again, both parents dead, nowhere to go. 90% of Barcalona was wiped out due to the plague, and around 20% was suicides. The plague made you feel like shit, then you'd feel better, then you'd feel worse and die by vomiting up all your organs. The cloud of disease and plague wrapped around her body, like talons. No hope. No survival. Nothing left but to lay down and die.
Yes, give in... give in.
A hand touched Sarah's. Her hair raised. She saw pure white in front of her. A beautiful angel, frowning with worry, white hair down his perfect face.
nonononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononono

Sarah. Don't give in.

Sarah awoke. She kicked whatever was in front of her, slammed it into a pipe. It yelled in pain, and disappeared. The metal around her groaned, and then stopped.

"You better run, you filthy motherfucker!"

((looks like my post might have been missed, so here's try #2!))

Frank fiddled with the frequency of hiss radio again and called out for help but it wasn't working. Either no one was listening or no one cared enough to talk with the Quartermaster, he spun around quickly as he heard someone scream in the hallway outside the Supply bay.

Slinging the emergency supply kit over his shoulder, the Quartermaster bent down slowly to pick up a nearby crowbar, never once letting his eyes move from the doorway where the scream had emanated from. Backing up slowly he used his fingers to guide himself along the wall until he reached the maintenance shaft. He had no idea what was going on in the hallway, but he didn't intend to stick around to find out.

He quickly undid the safety restraining bolts on the hatch cover and slide inside the tunnel, it was fairly cramped and dark but at least he had the flashlight in his emergency pack. He wasn't getting paid enough for this kind of crap. Frank moved for astonishing speed for a lazy 36 year old, perhaps the fear of being killed was finally bringing out his true potential.

He quickly made his way down the tunnel, moving as fast as he could in the cramped confines, the flashlight jingling in every direction casting crazed shadows that looked like they were demons. Then he ran into something, or someone rather, full on. People? Why are there people in the tunnels. The crowbar tumbled from his hands and landed  with a large clatter nearby.

Frank was flat on his back staring up wide-eyed at a group of several crew, his face betrayed the confusion and fear that he was feeling, something that the others seemed to share as well .

((Did Sarah hit Frank? I'm going to assume that right now.  :o ))

Reyhana watched as Sarah lashed out at something in front of her. She couldn't help but peek over the comm-chiefs shoulder. It was...Frank? The quartermaster? Reyhana didn't know him well-but she sometimes borrowed one of his radios when she wanted to listen to Classical music.

No, there was something different about him. He looked evil...like a monster. Maybe he was the one responsible for all this? Frank the Traitor. That would make sense...he was always so secretive...always by himself in his quarters. He must have been hiding something. Hadn't he always looked at her funny? Like he knew something...wanted to hurt her...the whispering voice had changed it's tactics.

"You know that's...not Frank. Kill him. Kill him before he kills you...or worse.... DO it. He'll do the same to you. Or worse....do it. do it NOW.

What came out was frightened semi-coherent babble.

"Don't get to close to him Sarah...he looks like Frank, but he's not...he's not..."

Reyhana didn't have a weapon exactly, but her hands gripped her sitar tightly. He wanted to steal it. He had always wanted to steal it.

She imagined the sound it would make when smashed into his head. It would sound horrible...but, the voice insisted, she would feel better afterwards...

***

Unknown to any the Colonists at that moment, a small Miltary Vessel was overflying the base-brought by reports of a diasaster.

The scanner-man was relaying information to Commander.

"Heavy damage to the Solar Domes and Solar Arrays-only half of them intact. Generators seem intact. The rest of the place seems shook up, but intact...we can make a landing a few hundred yards and move in on foot undetected. Heat signatures...are strange. Very strange...sir..."

The Commander nodded to his soldiers-not normal soldiers, these ones ones wore totally black armor. No faces were visible among them.

(Basically, Frank-Monster is different for every crewmate. It's meant to be a monster that sums up the fears of the character. Speaking of, Sarah had a really fucked up time when Barcelona was under a plague.

Sarah stared as something changed about Frank. His appearance was different now. He was wearing a gasmask with hell-tinted eyes, and white biohazard gear. Gas flowed from the mask's filter, deadly and menacing. Whatever skin was open was covered in sores and pale. It groaned in pain, begging for salvation. Sarah had only one word that could sum up his appearance.

Plaguebearer

The real Frank ran up behind them. This beast was not Frank. It was truly something else.

Sarah was scared.

((So, is this meant to be horror movie-esque?  If so, I believe that a confrontation (though a small one, fortunatly) with the main antagonist is a bit rushed this early on.))

Reyhana was caught between...the fake-not Frank...Sarah...and the real Frank. The man who was a little bit rude, but he was a kind man. How could she think those things about him? Logic ruled her universe, and there could not be two of the same thing-so, this one was fake.

"Go away-your not Frank. You don't...exist. Your not real.' She thought.

It seemed to snarl at her, then retreat into itself. Reyhana looked again-to her, there it was only a shadow of menace-a cowrdly, sadistic creature.

It could still hurt Reyhana, but while she saw it's true face...she could fight. Sarah kept looking at the spot though...muttering the word plaguebearer...the monster creeped toward her.

Reyhana put her hand on Sarahs shoulder and tried to help her.

"It's just a trick...concentrate. It can't be what your imagining it to be, if you just think about it. Please Sarah...come back to the sound of my voice. Your not alone...it can't hurt you if you see what it really looks like.'

Reyhana sounded braver than she felt.

The monster crept closer.

(Well, I don't think we'll be running out of ideas soon. It'll just be longer. Plus, who says the crew will be able to defeat the monster so quickly?)

Sarah shook her head out. The plaguebearer was getting closer. She yelled and slammed the Plaguebearer into the pipe, and something cracked. Dull red splashed on the wall, and it fell. The monster seemed to glitch out of reality, disappearing without a trace. Sarah snarled.

"Let's just try and get to the fucking saferoom. I am personally fucking tired of this supernatural bullshit. I've had enough of monsters."

Ernst had reached and checked the Power station, he sighed in relief when everything was in order.
As a precaution, he had locked himself in that room, the walls and door were despite their age incredible sturdy, enough to keep things in there safe.
Ernst had seen something out there on his way here, but he was not sure what it was.

This room had some tools and supplies for various purposes, he always made sure there were some in at least every important room on the outpost, should he quickly have to repair something. He went to the com panel near the door and tested it to see if everything worked. "This is the Chief Engineer." He said with slight amusement as the thing seemed to work. "The Power Station is secure for now.." He didn't feel like there anything more that had to be said, so he left it.

Taking a deep breath, he started looking over the room to see if there was anything to be done.

((moving us forward!))

Sarah, Reyhana and Frank began moving forward slowly. The groaning of metal has stopped...but it had been replaced by something worse. Silence...Sarah had long plotted out the route by memory, though, and they made good time, stopping only to check theirs bearings at intersections.

And then-dead end. The passage was blocked off by what looked like a rockslide-it filled the entire corridor. There was something odd about them. Reyhana picked up one of the rocks-it was red, slick and vaguely looked a chip from an eggshell-fuzzy like the inside of a fruit. It almost felt like it was crawling in her hand.

"I've never seen a mineral...like this." She threw it back with a visible look of digust on her face.

Reyhana looked around nervously. The lights were flickering again. The small group held their breath, as the lights went out completely for seven seconds...then returned.

Reyhana swallowed. She hated to put so much pressure on the Comm Chief but...

"Which way now Sarah?"

Sarah ran down the other corridor and found an intersection. She went to the left of the intersection.

"This way! NOW! The saferoom has two ways into it!"

Sarah could deal with this now. Terror had no longer gripped her spine and distorted reality. She could do this. Her heart was pounding and her hands were shaking but she was running. The corridor seemed so long... Finally, she found the ladder that went up into the safe room. Smiling, she went up it. Time to break out the firepower.

Reyhana was second up the ladder after Sarah, who was looking at something huddled in the corner.

She was hoping that other colonists had made it to the safe room as well...but there was only this one person.

Reyhana recognized the man, though he had his back to them. It was a man she knew as Albert West...they had dated. He was a little bit full of himself, but they had some fun together. She was glad he was here...but something was wrong with him. he had to have heard them come in, but he still hadn't turned around. It looked like he was huddled over something on the floor.

She gathered her courage and approached him.

"Albert? Dear? Is something the matter?" She questioned carefully.

He still didn't turn around, but Albert did speak.

"You don't understand Reyhana...I had to do it. It told me I had to do it...I'm so sorry..."

Reyhana noticed a puddle of blood seeping around Alberts shoes and took a wary step back.
