Even more than exotic animals, I always trade for aboveground plants. I have a rudimentary survival farm, but vast majority of my food is imported from humans and elves. Gives new flavors to meals too.

Are elves impeccable archers by default? If not, they're basically humans without metal now-- until magic comes around, and I assume they'll be adept with it.

...If only they'd stop bringing CLOTH. Although their animals often make up for the rest of their useless crap.

I buy their cloth and make it into socks, which I then sell to them and the dwarves in exchange for more cloth and steel, respectively.

I can't ass myself to start a textile industry, can't get the animals anywhere and you can never run out of wood.

No way man you aren't seeing the big picture! Think about it, they're all "You murder trees" but ALL their goods are wooden! The eleves aren't hippies their the MAN, MAN! They want to control the wood market so if anybody else tries to get any they get all "You can only cut down this many trees" and if you say no? They send in their storm troopers man!

Someone else noticed that and started calling them the "Wood Mafia".

Which just gives me the image of a Elven Kingpin sitting in his "Eco-friendly" mansion snorting cocaine and eating a *Dwarf Roast*.

They bring cloth if you don't have enough of it, apparently. Make some yourself and then you should get much more animals.

[EDIT: How considerate of them, bringing animals for you to train as war creatures. They're trying to convert you to their own race!]
