Adventure Mode Trading

In adventure mode, when I'm trading with a shopkeeper, how do I collect the money he owes me? It doesn't seem to automatically transfer to me.

It appears on the table beside the chest, just walk over and grab it.

No, they don't - this is "DF Gameplay Questions", and the forum's header text explicitly states "Feel free to ask about any aspect of the game here".
The "DF Dwarf Mode Discussion" forum is the one that's only for Fortress mode.
