Guys, my chinchilla is very ill, can you all forward me some money? My goal is to get to $139.00 to pay for medical bills. Here is a picture of something else $139.00 can buy, so you know exactly how much I need.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

That's just fucking rude. I hate you so much now, and I didn't before, I actually liked you as one of the old members of baystation12.
Anyway, the vet called and said she's going to hopefully pull through and she's going to stay the night at the vets office.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  The obvious solution is to chain the baby up at the entrance as a kobold detector.

Saint, I'm glad your dog is probably going to pull through and everything, but for someone who asked for donations for a good cause you have been extremely hostile to both this forum's admin and members.  :-\

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I know how you feel. I lost my last dog in a very similar way, so I sympathize. But it doesn't change the hostility.

Glad to hear she's okay, I lost my dog last year and sympathize. As for Grakelin, I believe that was an example of what other people might do, not what he thought you were doing.

I'm being verbaly assaulted and mocked for trying to save the life of my family member, I think I have a clear and valid reason to retaliate to grakelin's statement.
I'm also under extreme stress of the fact I just had to take out a loan that will take me easily a year to pay back if not longer, WITHOUT living expenses, which I have plenty of, so I'm kind of stressing about that as this operation has a slim chance of working even still and
I don't want to lose my dog. Someone's going to step up now and say that's stupid and crazy but I'd like to see them be ok with watching their best friend die in their arms and do nothing about it.

Glad to hear she's okay, I lost my dog last year and sympathize. As for Grakelin, I believe that was an example of what other people might do, not what he thought you were doing.
I hope so because I thought I knew him better than that to make such an asshole statement.

I also thought that was what he was doing. Losing a family member is tough and stressful and horrible but it's also the worst time to be retaliating against anything. But, I do wish you luck on your loan! I have a feeling you'll pull together. In the end, it'll be worth it if it goes well. No amount of money is worth not losing friends or family.

I did not really want to comment or get involved, but may I just note that there's a reason why google checkout and paypal froze the accounts on the zomboid game devs for "possible fraud and money laundering". In a tax sense, you are not supposed to get non-taxed revenue for nothing or "donations" without being a certified, registered non-profit organisation and giving something back in return. Not to mention the commonality of such scams.

While I wish you the best of luck, I can't say that anyone is a jerk for making sure that illegal activity (even if this is not a scam, it's still tax evasive) takes place on his forums. That's why it violates the rules and has to go. A warning is just that, a warning. It does not help to start another thread complaining of moderation rules - especially ones that enforce all of us not getting audited by the IRS :)

But may I suggest reddit or various news aggregate sites if you're still having trouble. Best wishes.

It's a dog, not a family member. Tone the drama down a little bit will you?

Now if you removed the clear insult to toady, it would be even better.

Taking your disagreement with moderation "to the people" has always had bad results. For the poster. If you chill out a bit maybe he'll just remind you what the rules are. But you're cruising for a ban, and he's well within his rights to give you one at this point.

This is obviously a very touchy subject Saint, and while I don't like how alot of people are reacting to this thread, you do need to understand that this is a public forum, and none of this is a personal attack against you.

I am sure many people here wish you and your dog well, but Toady isn't trying to do this to be mean, He loves his cat, but rules cannot simply be waived depending on the situation.

I would advise you lock this thread, and edit out the resentment, because once you think about the whole situation from Toady's situation of being legally responsible for these boards you may realize you don't mean exactly that.

Having been thoroughly moderated by Toady and ThreeToe, I'll say this. They don't like enforcing the rules. They don't like angering forumgoers. Every warning, mute and ban they dish out has a negative consequences to them. They lose community members. They lose a donator. They lose a little magical sunshine that is a place where everyone gets along. But they have to make tough decisions.

Do you think they want your dog to die? Of course not.

Do they want you to have the money to help him? Of course they do.

Do they wish you could get that money? Naturally.

The problem is that they can't allow others soliciting donations on the forums that they use to solicit donations.  If people started raising money for textbooks, charity causes, or political canidates the people who come here with a fresh paycheck in hand will see a half-dozen threads asking for money, all worthy causes for sure, but meanwhile Toady hasn't put out a release lately. Well if someone donated for last release and had money to donate, which would they choose, curing cancer or Toady's water bill? Furthermore, what would happen if someone took the money and ran? False donations and donation schemes are rife on the internet, and Toady and ThreeToe can't police that sort of thing, even if they did have time.

So it is reasonable that other donation drives not be allowed. This rule can't be bent because you have an emotional appeal, all donation runs are on emotional appeals. Your dying puppy, I hate to say, is far less worthy than the thousands of charities for dying people. If he allowed your puppy, he would have to allow everything else or be a hypocrite.

I would sooner the rules be unbroken than exceptions allowed and the rules to become inconsistant, so I must support Toady and ThreeToe in this.
