Hello everyone -

Skullsprout now has a website where Droplet and other projects will be managed.

There is a Droplet update in the works, probably one or two weeks away as programming time has been at a premium. I'm also splitting that time between finishing up Droplet and fleshing out story elements for future wizarding/puzzle game.

I also wanted to share a link to my friend Lexicon Labs who is also developing an evolution toy, but has come at it from a different angle than I have.

Thanks all!

edit: please note that the download button on the front page of Lexicon Labs might be bugged, you can get his game here.

Some cells spawn braindead, working as "terrain" already, but couldnt you make a mode where it randomly generates a rocky polygon'y terrain for the cells to play on? They should be able to attach to them, too.
That would be a nice thing, fishes and starfishes and fishstars and farstishes and and

Heh. My Tank is filled with this algea that mutated from the first plant cell I made. No natural connections yet, but some animal cells have evolved using the first species of plant as a buoy underneath the food-dribbling mass of Algea.

Wait, scratch that. Plantcell has finally died off, and Animalcell has evolved Animalfloat, which floats. They don't have any connections, but the floaters that spawn underneath feed off of the dead Animalcell above them, as well as the few scraps of Algea that float down from above.

I'm tempted to run this overnight, see what happens. Cells don't seem to be good at floating, most of them need some sort of balloon cell underneath to stay aloft and not fall into the abyss below. They are concentrated towards the center, the highest cells yet have all been animals and they failed due to lack of plants that high in the "water".

Hey all -

We got hit by the Hurricane and didn't have electricity until today. This has delayed the next release a bit.

There is only a bit of coding left for the next release, which I'm hoping to complete in the next few days. Next version has loading and saving of cells and games.

Thanks everyone!

Is there going to be an option to allow cells to breed out-of-control?

I've got mats of plant life but they stop breeding after a while. It's not death, I checked.

Yes, the next release will have a settings file where you can turn up the population caps among other things.

This is amazing. I've had a similar idea from games like e.g. DarwinPond.

Any chance you can make an open source project out of this? As I'd like to contribute (I've been programming for 15 years including C++ so I think I can help).
