Go wander about the town, seeing if there's anything to do that'll help the peasants.

((finally the large clans took notice...this is going to get fun.  :P the dwarven sense of fun. Time for divide et impera, maybe some fo the lesser clans are bought with slaves...))

Most of the Taggarts laid down their weapons and the Leaders came for the negotiations. Three Men, The Chief Older Jorret Taggart , Tyrus Halfnose (the Clans Champion) and  Reek Taggart the Firstborn of of Jorret.  Beside them a small boy laid the Taggart banner, a black goat with red eyes upon a green field, at Corv's feet. Slowly each of the three knelt in front of him extending their swords and placing them at his feet.

Corv's voice thundered across the hill for his own soldiers and the Taggarts to hear.
Men of Taggart you have surrendered and spared us much bloodshed. I am a honorable man and make true on what i promised.
With a wave the Jalrs hand the woman and children were cut free fromt he stakes.
And to show my mercy some of your woman and children will be freed. More so the men of the taggarts can prove their loyality by joining my army. Every man who decides to fight for me is freed aswell as his families. Raise Tyrus Halfnose and Reek Taggart, you have proven yourselves in battle and showed me that the Taggarts are worthy to be joining the Ranks of my Army. Therefore you Reekt Taggart will be the Hônd of the newly raised Blôdvindr Regiment. Tyrus Halfnose, i heard of your prowess in battle and therefore you will join my Personal Guard.

finally his gaze fell upon the Older Jorret

You however are to be punished, Jorret Taggert. You ordered the archers to shoot me and my guard which came for negotiations and for that your hide shall serve for the new banner...!

"wha..? NOOO!" 2 Guards grabbed the old man by the shoulders and dragged him towards the stakes.

So they finally took noticed of me eh? Good, good...

Reg scowled
Not good m'lord. The Munro's have several loyal clans under their control and propably the help of the McKinleys.

Corv Manskinner (as the people of the Weylands now seemed to call him) grinned broadly

Well, Reg we are now in the awareness of all the Clans in the Weylands, and several neighbouring clans are fearing us for sure, otherwise they wouldn't act. Send out Envoys to the surrounding clans to determine which would be willing to join us, tempt them with Slaves if need be.

free 0.5 ducats worth of slaves to show my people that i can also be a just ruler
raise another Regiment of Bloôdvindr Raiders
send envoys to the three closest Clans, with an offer of surrender.Where needed bribe them with the last 2 ducats of Slaves. By now the story of the Taggarts and the Pearsons should have spread so no need of new cruelties.

OOC:
Hoe-lee crap. It's gonna take me a while to go through everything I've missed. Just letting you guys know I'm back though, so you should expect a post soon if you were waiting on me for something.
If I do miss something -- and I will miss something -- just give me a heads-up. I'm making a King related post first, and then I'll slip back into the role of assistant GM and make rolls for people.

OOC: <3 Waery

The King remained seated as the demon transformed, the Grand Master drew his short sword, and the Mage made its threats. By the time they were done, however, his amused smile had long since disappeared, replaced by a grim visage. "Mage, you will not threaten any member of my court, especially not the Grand Master. Is that understood?" he spoke harshly, then, and rose from his seat. Slowly he descended the steps, moving towards the mage and its familiar as he spoke, "Further, you will banish this...thing immediately should we wish to keep your head. I will not have anyone in my lands consorting with monstrosities."[/color]

He came to a stop at the bottom of the steps, before the terrified throng of courtiers, and drew his father's longsword. Though every guard in the room had been at attention the moment the summoner had barged into the room, more-so after its name had been known, they now found themselves even more on edge. One guard quickly stepped outside to raise a potential alarm, while the rest formed a quick circle around those who were the center of the conflict, ready to rush in and aid their king at a moment's notice.

That noon...

The King frowned, and rose to his feet for the second time that. Without so much as looking at his General, he took in a long, deep breath and then spoke in a forlorn tone: "As Erika is...no longer available...you will stand in her place as the accuser here, Lord Trubaldsome. Kaguro..." he paused once more, his expression blank, and then continued on, "Please stand before me. You have been...charged with a crime."

A Day Later...

"I am pleased to hear that you are eager for battle and glory," Erik replied calmly, "for I do intend to have red work available soon enough, once my diplomats have returned and I have spoken to both of them. We need only learn of the current alliances and disputes in the three kingdoms before we decide where to make our play."

A Day or So After that...

The King slowly nodded, listening to Drua's assessment of Suul. When she finished, he considered what he had heard for a moment before replying "Interesting, indeed. And of Miring?"

Two Weeks Later...

The King listened intently to Terenos' report. "This is grave news indeed," he began, pausing only to let the Grand Master have his word, "We will need to begin planning for battle immediately, so that we might raise troops and march after the planting season." He gave a short nod to a castle aide after stating this, and the youngster quickly ran off to ensure that runners were sent to the landed noble-people of Elbreth, bidding them to the capital.

OOC:
Hopefully I didn't miss anything?
There were some pages that I just sort of skimmed because it looked like OOC discussion and nothing else.

Also, I'm a bit disappointed that mages are so frowned upon. I had plans to play a hedge-wizard style character turned pirate should Erik ever die. Now I'm just gonna have to play a pirate. Which is fine, because the "pirate" part was the real draw of the concept xD

Terenos nods. "I would request a regiment or two prepared, that I may travel immediately. Just in case war begins quickly."

Blood began come out of the corner of Hiatsu's mouth as the strain of the transformation began to take effect he quickly snapped his fingers, and Gil. returned to his cat form, adn Hiatsu said to the King "I am sorry my Lord, but I can not get rid of Gil. he is a part of me if I do that I will die, and there will be a chance he will be let free. We signed a contract, and I can not break it, or else I lose my life, and he is set free also I was not threatening my Lord's vassal I was warning him Gil. attacks those who point their weapons at me when in that form. I am sorry, but this thing as you call it is part of me wether I like it, or not a Dempn's Contract can not be broken, and you have nothign to fear from him for I can control him, and in his cat form he has no power at all except for speech, so he is of no threat. I have come here to recieve your permission, and support in starting a Magic Academy I mean you no harm, so do not worry I am not the same as my brother."

At the battle planning meeting between nobles...

Grand Master Black strode in to the meeting hall, several Lords crowding around a large map of the Kingdom and the surrounding territories of Preston and Miring.

"My Lords, Your Majesty. Allow me to present a battle plan that I have drawn up."
He cleared his throat and spoke to them one and all, allowing his voice to carry the confidence that he felt in his plan.

Available Forces:
Eelspine: 5 Royal Regiments, 2 Noble Regiments (Kain) Stonewood Militia (Taric)

Elbreth: 1 Royal Regiment, 5 Noble regiments (Taric, Kaguro, Trubaldsome, Knavston, Marchais)

Suggested Royal Muster:
1 Knight Regiment (2 Ducats, 4 land)
1 Royal Regiment (1 Ducat, 2 land)
1 Noble Regiment (Terenos, 1 Ducat, 2 land)
Additonal forces can be raised if the King consents to offering ducats to nobles who have not expanded their guard.

Enemy Forces: (estimate)
6 Royal Regiments
4 Noble Regiments

We can expect them to have equal training to our own soldiers. It is probably known that an Elbreth foiled their coup attempt, but to what capacity may still be unknown. We should expect them to leave at least 2 regiments behind to guard their towns and border with our own.

Though the entirety of the council was killed, there still may be an unknown number of Preston-friendly Miring regiments already engaged in battle in the Kingdom of Miring.

Allied Forces:

Unknown number and quality of Miring troops. Suspected that numbers are greatly reduced due to internal strife. Most likely poorly led due to the number of deaths in the Miring court.

Suggested Plan of Attack:

Terenos should raise a Regiment immediately and sent it to Miring. It will provide token support where possible, but its main goal should be to determine the strength of both allied and enemy forces.

Sir Taric and his guard travels to Eelspine to take control of the 5 royal regiments left in the province. These 6 regiments  travel from the Eelspine to Miring to provide relief to the Miring forces there and repel the Preston Assault. Known as the 2nd Army.

Meanwhile The Royal Knights raised along with the 4 Noble Regiments, (Marchis, Trubladsome, Knavston, Kaguro) march on Preston`s border, taking advantage of Preston`s main force being engaged in Miring. Known as the 1st Army, we will force Preston main host to turn back to relieve the defenders. Reinforcements in the form of Sir Taric and Terenos shall arrive from the south and we shall be able to crush the Preston host between our two armies.

King Erik I humbly suggest you remain behind to protect the integrity of the realm along with 2 royal regiments. The citizens are on edge and they ask for their King.

Lord Kain shall protect the Eelspine with his 2 regiments of Noble Guard he has mustered, The Stonewood militia may also be called upon in case they are needed.

He finished and looked at the others gathered around, his eyes stopping on the King last of all. He doubted he would like staying behind in Elbreth while his host rode off to fight in Preston, but he was trying to be prudent. With the unrest in the streets, Seeing their King at home might ease a few people's minds.

"Well, what do you think?"

((Actually I just need to be a noble to raise a regiment of personal guard. But I'm not a noble currently. This may however change shortly. But thats about the only flaw I see with your plan.))

((Drua could go to her Miring estate and raise a guard, if someone asks her.))

Drua stands tall, "My King, infinite apologies, but I was not able to approach Miring. Patrols and armed forces would not let me through, no matter how much I explained my creditability as a diplomat. They thought I was a bandit, and trying to harm them! Unfortunately, with the bandit attacks near Brighthall last year and the scum in Eelspine, I had to admit they had a valid point. I did meet a noble and stay with him for the span of a few months, during which we fell in love and bound ourselves in marriage...I'd still be willing to be of service to you, of course, I'm just informing you of the situation."

She smiles brightly, "I have a small estate in Miring lands, which I share with my husband, and a regiment of personal guard. Anything else, your Highness?"

((Well after your one man show antics in Miring, Ternos, I imagine the king might be more willing to grant you a Lordship. ;) ))

Knavston's ears picked up when he heard the girl Drua speak of access to another regiment in Miring.

"Ah, Lady Drua."
His courtesy must be remembered, the Grand Master never spoke as well to the fairer sex, only because the Order did not see many. "You speak of a regiment in Miring? Perhaps you would be willing to ride with Terenos to Miring and raise your men in defence of the realm? I'm certain your King would be most gracious that you had offered your swords, especially in a time as dire as now. Any additional soldiers would greatly help turn the tide back against the forces of Preston."

Hiatsu stood, and said to the King "If you accept my proposal I will be a weapon for your kingdom for two years, adn then after that I shall be you ally is this deal acceptable to you?"
