I completely forgot about this game after playing it some time last year. I was recently reminded of it by RPS's post on the new summer update and have started playing this gloriously bloody, vaguely sexualised, sorta horror game once more (after realising all my perks were at level 0).

I've got one guest pass, and I'll give it away to the first person who wants it unless someone contributes more. If we get more than one or two guest passes, fancy doing a raffle with them? They're the full game, basically.

Anyway, anyone else got this game or considering getting it for the summer update? Let's make a server, kick some mutant specimen arse and win the game.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, Rock, Paper, Shotgun has a competition going on for copies of Killing Floor.

If the first page clears without anyone putting forward another guest pass, you certainly can. Well, first page or midnight GMT, because I don't think this topic is going to move very fast. :p

It's a re-skin, just like the Christmas event. Not complaining though, for a game everyone was willing to let go of because it'd outlived its awesome, Tripwire still treats their fans pretty well. I have a hard time playing more than a round or two of KF now, because sitting in a defensive spot and mowing stuff down for 30 mins straight does get boring after a while.

That said, checking out to see what new demented shit their artists thought up, and their awesome level designs, alone will be worth it.

What difficulty level are you playing at?  I know at only hard I have a difficult time just standing still.  And heaven help you if a flesh pound meets up with you in a "defensible" dead end.  Hence why I never weld doors.

We never play less than hard and rarely fail to kill the Patriarch. And we play suicidal about 50% of the time, usually folding in Wave 8 or 9.

We still lose to FPs (or 3 FPs and 2 Skrakes.) It's not that the game can't be hard. It's just that the 6 rounds leading up to it are always the same. Playing shorter games doesn't really change anything, it just gets you to the point where you're going to die quicker with less money.

KF was best for me when people made the progression mod maps. In those you had to keep moving through a level, opening doors, reaching checkpoints ect... otherwise the horde never really stopped coming. (It actually did, but in excess of 200 to 300 mobs.) It rewarded being able to float between playing defensively and fighting on the move, and offered way more variety than the standard game play. There was no trader so all your weapons and ammo had to be scavenged, REALLY ramping up the tension.

Not knocking KF, I put 400 hours into it. I just can't bring myself to play it that much anymore. We all know what we're doing and there's just not a lot of flexibility to how you play the game. Put another way, when your group can play all of Wave 7 without ever saying a word or making a sound on suicidal, how dull has that become?

Can I have the guest pass?

What's your steam ID?

Sorry, Scout, but I did say first come first served. :( You should apply to the RPS contest, at least.
