Have you seen the Star Wars Holiday Special?
« on: June 17, 2011, 09:15:40 pm »

So I just watched this a couple days ago.  I genuinely had no idea that something could be so painful to watch.  I didn't get a full picture of how bad it was until about an half-hour in.  But at that point, I had committed to watching the whole thing.

Has anyone else had the same experience?

Nope. I want to, though.

Yes.  I can't imagine how awkward for families watching it when the wookie watched the erotic video and started grunting and breathing heavily.
I'm not even joking

I remember seeing this in immensely low quality long long ago a real media file that amounted to like 20 megabytes back in the day. It was the best thing ever.

Just in case anyone wants to watch it, the whole thing is uploaded on google videos, with 70's commercials and all.

I won't link to it though.  Not for any legal reason, but rather I don't want to be a party to emotionally scarring anyone.

I have the soundtrack.  It's hilariously bad.  Also noteable for being Bon Jovi's first studio performance.

Quote from: Wikipedia
The album is notable for featuring the first professional recording of Jon Bon Jovi (credited as "John Bongiovi", his birth name), who sang lead vocals on the song "R2-D2 We Wish You A Merry Christmas." His cousin Tony Bongiovi co-produced the album and ran the recording studio at which it was recorded, where Jon was working sweeping floors at the time.

Seen a review and then watched it for a bit, because I simply couldn't believe something like this existed.

I've seen reviews but never been able to watch the entire movie itself. I don't think I could do it without company.

I usually link to the SW:CS every Christmas to my family. Worth the punishment. Heck, I'll even livestream it this Christmas if anyone's willing to take on the challenge.

For anyway that hasn't seen it: one of the Nostalgia Critic's best reviews was of the special. You might be missing a little snippet here or there, but mostly, he reviews and goes over every part of it (except the very end, for which you'll have to watch to see why). It's good for a laugh.

I watched it with my dad.  He got his laptop about 1/3 of the way through.  I can't say I blame him.  It was also a little uncomfortable during the erotic scene Sir Finkus linked to earlier.

I watched it. Or tried to. The poll lacks an "Watched it, but it was too painful to finish" option.

Same here. I tried to watch it, but even with the Rifftrax for it, it was just too painful. And this is coming from someone who's seen "The Room" at least twice.
