Hello everyone,
Alexm the developer of
Starfarer took the brave step of quiting his day job and commiting his lively hood to indie gaming. A big step one would say at the very least.
So this game looks very promising and I wish to help out a bit. Bought 10 extra licenses and it's time to hand them out. Right now there is a playable alpha out, showing off the combat engine with missions.
Two bits of the FAQ to give you an idea what this is all about,
What is Starfarer?
Starfarer is a single-player sandbox style space role-playing game with strategic elements. That’s quite a mouthful, though, so here’s what it boils down to – fly around with your highly customizable fleet, explore, build stuff, blow stuff up, advance your character. The goal is to give you lots of meaningful choices in a malleable world.
What does “classic” mean?
We are glad you asked. Let’s use a food analogy: Take a slice of Star Control, mix it with cubed Master of Orion 2, add in a dash of MechWarrior and stir it all up in our special development pot. As indie developers and old school gamers we are going back to the Golden Age of Gaming with our design choices and presentation. Of course, if you load up one of those games now you may be cringing at the graphics. That’s where our modern game engine and art department come in. In addition, sound effects and music really set the stage for a memorable experience.

Also lets get this bit out of the way... Sad that it's needed, but it is...
---------------------------------------------------------"Escaped Lunatics" do not need to apply...---------------------------------------------------------Yeah sue me, I'm a bit of a lurker myself, but I rather make sure these licenses go to active community members. Spamming other threads might work, but I'll be checking registration dates when I feel like it. (Signing up with an account created after this post was made, is a no no. Sorry.)
I'm sorry -real- new members
... but the past has shown that some can't handle a raffle without creating new accounts to increase their chances.
This part is not up for debate. To determine the winners I'll be using random.org to pick the 10 winners. Please only leave your (forum)name if you wish to enter, if one has something else to add, use spoiler tags to keep it easy for me to keep track of signups.
I'll be rounding this up coming monday (20-6) evening.
I wish I could of thought of something more original for this contest, but that's not the point. Real-life just took a swing at me at I'm somewhat short on time.
Goodluck peeps.
