Sun News Interview with Margie Gillis, incredibly influential interpretive dancer and choreographer.



Some background: Sun News is a new channel based around news from a Right-of-Centre perspective. The Toronto Sun, where this channel gets its name is a tabloid (as all newspapers called 'The Sun' are). The interviewer is Krista Erickson, an incredibly impoverished individual who has to struggle and claw for every .3 cents in annual income she has (calculations are my own, based on figures she provided and Canada's approximate 30 million population).

I don't know anything about Canadian arts funding, but the insidious way in which the interviewer tried to push her agenda was very troubling. Thanks for sharing.

I currently have an intense urge to punch the interviewer in the face. Everything she says just has this undertone of fakeness, insincenrity, and malevolence that makes me irritated and angry. Unfortunately, this is the Internet, and I only ended up getting glass shards stuck in my hand.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised to see some countries with more active regulatory governments than the US's, start to ban outlets like Fox News from calling their sensationalist circus-crap "news." Surprised, nor sorry.

Canadians have to understand that since we have Fox News in America, we're already kind of inoculated against this sort of thing. It's not anything that will shock or upset us to watch. It is unfortunate to see the infection spreading across borders though.

Hmm, less than 100,000 a year for a professional of the highest level to feed themselves and afford work expenses? Well that doesn't sound right, she should be earning a lot more!
Wait, instead of a rich few being able to afford her services, the cost is shared between many who will not miss the tiny amount taken for a second, hell they most likely tip more than that in a single night, with the intention of benefiting the greater majority? FOR SHAME!!!!

Most of that money was for an entire school, apparently. For putting on (what I assume are public but I have no idea) performances and training up new dancers.

How the hell do they manage all that on only $90k a year?

Dancers, artists, guitarists, stoners, indie games makers and Wile E Coyote can all stretch a budget to otherwise unknown extents.
