My next goal is to kill it with a harpoon. For those who don't know, the harpoon is one of those weapons you can fire repeatedly by holding the mouse, the gun itself does damage as well as the projectile, and the fire rate is basically limited only by the harpoon's travel time - all of which adds up to the harpoon being an absolutely murderful melee weapon.

I'm making a wormy arena. Worm teeth will be an absolute horror to find though.

You don't need worm teeth for worm food, only 15 rotten chunks and 30 vile powder (6 mushrooms). The teeth are for unholy arrows on an anvil.

The houses looks right to me, you just need a bed in the small one and NPCs will fight (not really) over who is going to sleep there.
And.. uuh.. *looks at character* ..You be a troll mon?

All I have is a Dwarven Miner.. Nothing original about that at all..
Perhaps I should start from scratch with something more interesting?

Try removing the wood block in the corner and replacing the dirt block to the lower left of it with wood. I don't think houses can be misshapen.

Huh. Well that's solved.

Maybe it was the dirt tile under the door? We'll never know now.

Also note that rooms have to be a certain size as well. The left house might not have been large enough.

And the door on the dirt may have been a problem as well.

I don't think it was the size. The house was 7 blocks tall (counting ceiling, not counting floor), and 9 blocks wide on the inside, counting the part with the corner.
