 The best part of that map is gonna be where the floating islands were before in the upper portion of the map. Just spelunking with daylight behind you when suddenly harpies outta nowhere. And the valley of evil that is the aboveground section on the right near the bottom of the map.

 Ahahaha, i just found your spawn house, right there in the valley of evil. You are right above imp spawning territory there.

Finally reached 3k obsidian bricks. I should build a generator...
Oh, and i'm happy they changed the recepie for Hellstone bricks. No more iron picks, and there's stone to use!

After falling to my death three times in a row (the first time while fighting Skeletron and winning easily) due to not being able to use the rocket boots while falling after using them to go up (or after using them to fly part of the way across a gap, running out of charge, and then falling a very short distance to my death), I can say that I hate the nerfed rocket boots.

Frankly, I use the two free spaces provided by getting rid of the two Rings of mana I had to power the boots to constantly have a horseshoe on. And a ring of Health because whatever.

The nice thing about never having used rocket boots, at this point, is not being bothered by the change to rocket boots. Got full molten gear and most pre-1.0.5 goodies, but I've never actually used the boots. Murdered upwards half a dozen goblin armies, but no boots. So I've just given up on them. Ruddy useless things.

Really, though. I can't see how they'd be much help where ciab+balloon+vine wouldn't do the job as well or better, at least once you're underground. Bouncing around via vine or hook is hella' fun and bloody fast.

Maybe they help getting to the islands, I'unno. Only thing vaguely tempting up there for me these days is feathers. Why they gotta' have potion ingredients I can't farm in a cave halfway to hell

Nothing that can't be solved with a good old new gravitation potion.
Really, any vertical movement that would be useful to have the old boots for is trivial once you nab a few of those.
The taps to stop fall damage were good, but you can just replace the boots with a lucky horseshoe for that.
Otherwise, they're just a third jump now.  If you can use it, go for it.

To get materials:

Go to the sky, harvest feather
Go to the corruption, harvest flower.
Go to hell, harvest flower.

Problem with death whatsits is it takes a blood moon to get seed. That's terribly, terribly annoying. Still, pots are cheap.

Does still have me beat for diversity, though. For now. Still need death junk and water-whatever. Little more efficient, too, I guess. I've got fireblossom blooming on manual, heh.

I can't seem to get ANY seeds that aren't blinkweed or the surface time-dependant plants. Also, if you want to get rid of your blinkweed seeds, let it stop blinking before you pickaxe it to death.

There should be a spell that removes all the tall grass on the map. Stuff gets annoying very quickly when wild herb farming.

I just sell my surplus seeds/blinkroots. Nets me a bit of cash and gets rid of excess easily.
