Random body parts are eventually going to come after you. I wonder if that applies to prepared body parts; it's be infinitely amusing if a Necromancer shows up and your dwarves are swarmed by undead Prepared Elephant Hearts or Rhesus Macaque Intestines.

Armok help the person that embarks on a map with whales in that scenario.

The re-animated whale left floating rib strikes you in the upper body, breaking your right shoulder and bruising your neck.

It will now be a bad idea to kill enemies with axes and swords. To reduce the amount of extra pieces of foes that can be turned into zombies, we will be forced to restrict our soldiers to spears and hammers!

So... a re-animated arm comes after you. How do you kill it?

Don't the DF zombies currently use an hp system?

Another interesting possibility of a Necromancer "visiting" is that he/she has heard of your Legendary Badass Dwarf deep within your fortress and he wants a sturdy new bodyguard...

...Or maybe the necromancer brought some "new recruits" to test them out (he got the bodies from Gemesh Giken, the Conflict of Lightning and Tholtig Cryptbrain the Waning Diamonds is one of "them". Ooooh, a challenge...).

Wouldn't it be nice if the evil one brought the reanimated wife of Cacame just to spite him?

It would be neat if instead of charging your fort, the necromancer hung around the edges and retreats when you finish off his minions, so to get him you have to find a way to ambush him.

It would be hard to reanimate the wife of Cacame, considering how she was eaten.

Yes, but nobody knows if they'll still use that system given the recent undead rewrite.

To be fair, no one has written knowledge right now.  No civ or creature ever reads or writes.
What gets engraved on slabs?
It's more a series of pictures, roughly scratched into the surface by a series of semi-random beard strokes.  "Here lies Thultig, lover of anvils." is actually a stick figure of a dwarf and something that resembles an anvil, with a heart or two nearby.

That's right, the tombstone for your legendary soldier with 500 notable kills, is actually a preschool-level doodle on a rough boulder.  And this is all it takes for him to be content in the afterlife.

It is well known that bookkeepers are actually a highly attuned form of psychic.  As was quoted by someone else, "It's obvious the bookkeeper is just a form of psychic meditation.  After all, he doesn't go around counting all the goods on the map, how else could he know about it?  Clearly, the "record keeping" skill is the act of attuning their body to their surroundings, allowing them to "feel" the amount of orthoclase boulders in the rubbish heap."

That's... a stunningly perfect explanation of what seems to be occuring. I love how, once they are fully attuned to their surroundings, they never have to do any work again. They just KNOW.

"   So the gods discussed it and created elves. The Elves were beautiful, Mistral Thrax admitted, in and elvish way, but it was his belief that the gods grew disappointed after a time because the elves -- being elves -- were essentially decorative but not particularly functional. They were content simply to live long lives and to exist. They did not nothing of any real value, in the opinion of Mistral Thrax."

The "Records Keeping" skill should be duly renamed to "Psychic Stockkeeper"
