Misc Object Demonstration

I've got one squad, sworddwarfs that are obsessed with misc object demonstration.
Any idea what it is they are demonstrating and using?

There is nothing special in the dwarfs inventory

Are they wielding shields? Then they're teaching how to shield-bash.

Ah yes. So that isn't covered in the shield demonstrations?

Shield demonstration is blocking.  Misc. Object is the use of any non-weapon item to attack with, which means shields.  In adventure mode, this means shields, body parts, logs, socks, etc, but fortress mode is fairly restricted to shields.

Now, if you give your soldiers two copper shields each (the heaviest armor-capable metal) you can get some good protection and bash some skulls in, once they skill up in Misc. high enough.
