Considering Phoenix's stats, that's pretty damn impressive.  Unless one of the mods I'm using is jacking him up to the eighties, in which case it's still impressive, for exactly the opposite reasons.

Thanks for the replies.

I will probably try the game during the holiday the next month.

It's a fun and addictive game. I recommend you avoid any sites and spoilers on the map, since it is static and discovering stuff js just about the best part of the game.

Expect to lose your first few characters. Try to learn from it though.

The game isn't as advanced as players and the description make you think. Even those campaigns don't result in much, and wiping out towns usually just occupies them with some other faction. All that said, it's still an extremely fun and interesting game. It really gets you thinking and making stories about your characters in your head, just like DF.

And most importantly: Your characters learn from getting beat up. Don't be afraid to lose a fight and get beat up -- as long as you can still pick yourself up and crawl to safety afterwards then it's worth keeping on playing without reloading. It's probably the thing about Kenshi that is the most different from "standard" gameplay.

In fact, if I remember correctly they actually learn faster from getting beaten up than they do by kicking ass. It's especially important for training Toughness, which allows your characters to take more damage.

Yep. Your ideal start is spending a good few hours getting the crap kicked out of you. It's part of why the enslaved start is so good, since the guards always heal you up and drag you back to a cage so you don't starve.

There's also a specific spot in Rebirth where you can cheese stealth to ~90 in a day or two.

Basically, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is decidedly true in Kenshi.

Well, the Phoenix has this unfortunate tendency to not wear a helmet.  A blow to the head tends to take him out quickly.

The slave start is by FAR the best IMHO. You come out of it with at least two total bad asses. Even better, you can turn your guys back in to whatever faction you started as a slave of for starting cash. Escaping after is not an issue.

I would just add that you might want to keep the bounty under 10,000 cats, as after that it become permanent.  It might be useful to see if you can let that bounty clock out in jail, which isn't possible at or above the 10,000 cats mark.

Kenshi endgame is seeing how high you can push your characters' bounties and how many different charges you can collect. Treat it like a high score.

Besides, bounties are power-specific. Having 50k on your head in the HN means all of jack and shit in the UC or Shek Kingdom.

I tend to rack up huge bounties in the HN as a matter of normal gameplay... I don't think I have actually played a game of Kenshi without being hostile to the HN.

Having two starting badasses hated by a faction you won't be working with anyway is perfectly fine, and as I said you can turn your own guys in for massive cash payouts (then just escape again).
