After one of the other rulers - whom I had a non-aggression pact with - decided to ally with my ally, he demanded an insane tribute from me. I refused, starting a war. The other two guys broke their pacts, citing my "treason". After quickly tearing pushing him off the central continent, securing the channel between it and his lands, and shooting at one his towns, he wanted peace. Fine.

At the same time, the former ally, The Great Librarian, started moving troops and settlers through my land. I wasn't going to let that stand, so I declared war. The first guy declared war again, but some gifts to the third guy kept him out of it(he later declared war on the first guy). Immediately, I seized some border towns, putting me in a position to bombard his capital from the sea. Soon after, high-level ground troops, in the form of Arethi spearmen and archers, and Halberdiers, started attacking the capital in earnest. Half a dozen turns later, it falls.

I am also launching a massive naval invasion of the first enemy's lands.

I've beat it once. But that was on casual and the only ones who survived were the Avatar, Chrom, and Frederick.

You'll love the Death's Embrace map then. Spikes that at the end of every turn reduce anyone on it (enemy or friend, even if they're in a pair up) to 1HP. You have 15 people, the enemy has 37 to begin with and receives around 4 more every turn. Lots of Sorceror risen carrying Mire and Sniper Risen carrying a Longbow, and the spikes put even your strongest character at range of death. You also must beat the boss before 10 turns are up, otherwise he escapes and you get a bad ending. He's got the following stats:

0 Mag
35 Skill
41 Speed
20 Lck
34 Def
30 Res.

He also carries Axefaire, Swordbreaker, Vantage, Vengeance and Sol. He's also accompanied by a unique risen:

and the skills Lancefaire, Axebreaker, Luna, Vengeance and Counter.

All that at the end of a grueling map which will really test your party's endurance.

While we should take this to the Fire Emblem thread, I have one last thing to say: Apotheosis is even more absurd. Waves upon waves of enemies significantly stronger than anything you've ever faced in the game. My toughest unit can defeat the DLC superboss Grima (Future Past 3) in one round, but I can't really even graze the first few levels of Apotheosis.

Dragonskin (more than halve damage, nullify lethality and counter)
Counter (self-explanatory)

Note that the player's units in this are probably the single highest stats you could ever hope to get them, with S supports all over the place, Katarina and Celica phantoms as rallybots (if you have multiple Rally skills and use Rally, it uses as many as you have) and the most ideal parents for the second generation kids, leading up to absurd things like Gerome with 63+18 Str.

And they still end up being hit for crazy damage. Skip to 1:48:54 for the end of the match, the fight with Anna.

There was a perfectly reasonable explanation.  The dragon was eating his food too quickly and choked.  The farmers came upon the scene of a dead dragon lying on it's back and goat #6 lodged in it's throat bleating for help.
