Actually that's not a bad idea. It would add more personality to the creatures if they get addicted to something. It could be look a mood, Addicted:Sniffing Coal. Where the dwarf needs coal and lots of it. And if he doesn't get it he does something based on what hes addicted to. In the case of coal it should be lighting everything wooden in your fortress on fire.

I'm hungry, and not a town in sight. I'd better pick some of these mushrooms.

Oh boy, I'm starting to feel a bit strange.

Are those clouds...alive?

And then you kill a dragon, and the drugs wear off, and it turns out it was some kid picking flowers...

I've been there, man. I've been there.

(No, I just screamed and shouted at some lady who I thought I had a knife [actually a trowel] and was coming to steal my kidneys while I was on LSD. Fun times, though.)

Never done LSD. Did shrooms though. I learned so much about my apartment that day.

But yeah. Playing someone on hallucinogenics or just plain insane would be a lot of fun.

I quite liked hulacnagens in ZAngband,should do roughly the same in advanture mode, also this should allow you to confuse people(halucangenic gas anyone) so they attack random things(such as walls, and cats), Also, COFFEE/SMOKES!!!!!

Before making a suggestion, it is customary that you make use of the search function at the top right of the page, and read the development pages to ensure that you are not making a duplicate request, and to hopefully ensure that the suggestion forums are used to build off of the arguments of the past, refining the arguments towards better ideas, rather than rehashing the same arguments over and over again. 

Not only is there the current "short-term" development page, but also the older development page, which contains not just ideas, but an exciting look at how Toady wants the game to develop over the long-term.



Many of the threads that involve addiction get spun off into one of two things: either arguments about pipes and smoking, or else arguments about AI and how to manage addicted dwarves.
