But you get one spell from one book. You're basically swinging the book, and the spell flies out, taking some mana with it.

And you get mana from stars. Luckly so far the server max capacity is 8 or else getting enough stars would be tough.

It would be funny if the amount of stars scaled with the amount of players and you would get a ton of players.

You could have a proper end of the world like that, and building houses would be a necessity to escape from the infinite barrage of magical stars. Every step outside would carry the risk of being crushed. A squad of suicide woodcutters would be necessary to even make torches and the caves would seem like a place of safety.

And we see the sheer fun that is bomb spamming.

I think I may just (try to) wait until the rest of them are out. There's almost nothing going on in each of the most recent ones and just when they seem like it'll get interesting, they call it for the next one...

I'm still looking forward to this game coming out, but the Let's Plays could use a little work so far as drumming up interest IMO.

Mentioning floating islands and getting a fairly impressive bomb-kill on a skeleton (and then a teammate :) ) works for building up my interest.

There was also the one that killed about twelve slimes/skeletons in the water.

Maybe I over stated almost nothing going on. There's some going on, but it never seems enough to just watch one of them at a time. Thus the waiting until there's a bit of a buffer built up.

I would love to see some of these other environments they've been talking about--floating islands, lava tunnels, and the dungeon. :)

One comparison to Minecraft that I think needs to be made is the use of equipment.  Namely, that Terraria obviously has nothing in the way of item degradation.  Once you craft a silver sword, you have a silver sword forever.  While there's nothing inherently wrong with that, it kinda gyps over new player on long-lived servers, since there's never anything to bring old characters down from higher-level equipment.  Except maybe death, since early on, they mentioned that death is eventually going to have more consequences than just teleporting you home (I think they said dropping everything you're carrying, which is gonna be an issue with the spawn-rate what it is).

On the other hand, Terraria invests a lot more of the player's "options" in terms of useful items, many of which like bombs are consumable, so in the end, it all might even out.

Mentioning floating islands and getting a fairly impressive bomb-kill on a skeleton (and then a teammate :) ) works for building up my interest.

Yeah, it's gonna be interesting that the PvP settings don't save you from bombing each other to bits.  All things considered, that's probably for the best, but the game's certainly not grief-proof.

They mentioned that loss of all equipment was the original penalty for dying, and that they'll probably just make you lose money, although I think losing a single random item (or stack of items) would be a bit more suitable as a penalty than "oh, you'll have to go make more money to use the services of the NPCs."

Especially since the nurse (for example) doesn't seem that terribly helpful. If you have to go back to your house to get healed, why don't you just blow yourself up. You'll be back at your house and healed, all for free. :)

Do the inventories seem a little large to anyone else? Doesn't seem to be any reason not to just pick up everything you ever find... Not 100% sure that's a bad thing, but it does feel a little odd.

As for the inventory space, it's probably so you don't have to worry about not having enough space for that huge pocket of gold ore, or having to choose between a hammer to get hearts or building materials to make a way out.

Sure, not free if you actually lose money, but
... they'll probably just make you lose money ...

So I guess we wait until it comes out for that.

Although one neat use of the Nurse would be if they added any sort of more permanent effects (eg poisons, hallucinogenic mushrooms) that only the Nurse could remove. That'd be neat.
