The "Give the Poster above you a fortress goal" thread.
« on: April 22, 2011, 06:54:47 pm »

First, I love this game.

I love it so very much.

I, however, suffer from a syndrome in which I have so many ideas to implement in game, that I can't decide what to do.

This thread is meant to be a cure for that.

In this thread, you name a concept, or main goal for a fortress, and the person above you must make a fortress with that goal in mind.

I want to see what ideas people have. Plus, I have an easier time starting a fortress if someone decides what I should do FOR ME.

(Not posting idea, as there isn't anyone who posted before me, but am anxiously awaiting the first post)

Create a fortress near a civilization. Your goal is to completely wipe them out and prepare the lands for their new dwarven kingdom. Make them fear the might of even the smallest of dwarven settlements! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GODS!

This thread is going to produce a lot of fortress goals really fast, not to mention some people who will post more than once. O_o

But uh, BurnCruise, you need to build a boat that is currently docked at port, except the port has magma where water should be.

CRAFTBANNER! STRIKE THE EARTH!

We've embarked next to a human hamlet.

Let the horror begin.

Also, for a fortress idea...

A fortress where the entrance is a labyrinth. A labyrinth filled with traps that release cave crocodiles.

(you can mod them in as trainable)

Wait... if you post multiple times, does that mean you have to do multiple forts simultaneously? That doesn't seem wise, in my opinion. In which case, I will refrain from giving DoctorMonch another fortress to do (unless you want more).

Keldane, the king has sent you these words:

"You shall neither rest nor sleep, until Your dwarves have built The Divine Mug, a fortress which looks like a giant mug and is filled with lava!"

You must create two fortresses, one above ground and a mirror of it below. Each must be self-sufficient, and each must contain half of your fortress population.

Good point. ALRIGHT.

New rule, from now on, post a fortress idea in every post.

Even if the person has already been given an idea, they have to add this to a list of "To do in the future."

NEXT FORTRESS IDEA!

The entire fortress must situate over an ocean.

And must be entirely composed of wood.

DOCK FORTRESS AM GO!

Build a room for one of your nobles which is made entirely out of artifacts.

E.g. the walls must all be manually placed artifact statues/weapon racks (can dorves walk on them?) and all the furniture must be artifacts too.

Floortraded, future home of The Divine Mug, has had diplomacy stymied by the Expedition Leader falling victim to a Fey Mood. On the plus side, we now have a legendary miner and an artifact quern made of cobaltite, encrusted with obsidian, and adorned with hanging rings of cobaltite. Step One: build the mug train a badger extermination squad. Step Two: build the mug. Step Three: construct the pumpstack. Step Four: fill the mug.

Edit: Forgot to give Tharwen a task. Thus, my proposed task is building a glass 'above ground style' fortress in the third caverns with mandatory windows above the first floor.

Build a fortress hanging from the sky (via a support). Siege defense consists of dropping constructed platforms loaded with Monkeys on top of invading armies. Optionally, set the Monkeys on fire first.

Your task is to construct a machine using fluid logic that manages the fort on its own, cleaning, smashing, and collecting items at regular intervals, evacuating dwarves from the area, as well as defending the fort.

Make an Amazon fortress. All female dwarves are trained warriors, and take care of the economically important aspects of the fort. Male dwarves may only be haulers or miners, for the most part segregated from the female population underground. The apex of the male dwarf life in the fort will be getting a female dwarf to have a child, after which he is executed in a painful manner such as being pitted unarmed against an armed captive goblin in an arena. All elven and human caravans must be killed as soon as the fort is able to do so successfully, and must be ignored otherwise. Male children may be farmers in addition to haulers and miners upon reaching maturity, but must be killed after successful reproduction.

Flood the entire third cavern layer with magma, then divert water into it to fill the entire cavern with obsidian; then dig your fort out of that.

Build a waterslide for your dwarfs. Make a lever that diverts it into a colosseum with lever activated cages holding the creatures of your choice, just for nobles.

A dwarfs goal in life is to die a horribly painful death from one of the many forms of such a fate that the gods have though of.
