I'm not sure if this is one of the ones that FD showed me or not, but I love this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPKsax7OUX4&list=RDMMahYTbW3knyw

I've heard it a few times now, and still really like it - which is my litmus for whether it is good.

Never linked that one, though I did post/PM other Bill Sutton songs at some point(s).

Green Day's Holiday and American Idiot are nice. Both making a political statement and good songs in their own right.

Chrch - Dawning.
Just listened to this whilst laying on my bed half-asleep. Amazing, it's a great song in any state but that was something else.
Even if you don't normally listen to doom you should give it a listen when you have twenty minutes to spare (or if you feel like listening to music whilst doing whatever it is you're doing for the next twenty minutes). It's a sonic odyssey. One of the most powerful pieces of music I can recall listening to in a while, especially in the later parts.

It is good, but I've never liked music devoid of lyrics. There has been one or two exceptions, usually classical music, but other than that music needs words to give it soul.

In my opinion, obviously.

Yea, classical is best able to convey emotion without lyrics. Again:

It is good, but I've never liked music devoid of lyrics.
Pfft, you like lyrics, huh? Nerd. For me great lyrics are simply a bonus on top of a good song.

I have no idea what the lyrics to that particular song are, since the band hasn't made them available on any format as far as I am aware. If they have, no-one has posted them online. Here is a great song with lyrics, even if they are some mostly-impenetrable soup of theological concepts and entities.
It's a beautiful song either way. Although I am now listening to it for the second time today and it is so relaxing that I am struggling to stay awake.

As for lyrics which actually make a song, which really mean something to me, I would have to say Return Trip by Electric Wizard is first to spring to mind.
Spoiler: Return Trip lyrics (click to show/hide)

Fine, it's not like I've been feeling up lately anyway.

Ahhh, yes. That show had an excellent soundtrack, but the second season especially. She was great. This is great. All those scenes were great.

Her music kind of reminds me of Dorthia Cottrell, but it's still quite different.
