The Law of Unintended Consequences in Action
« on: April 13, 2011, 03:03:44 pm »

Currently, the first mayor of my fort has been elected following a goblin ambush in which he fought bravely, bearing the sacrs from a previous ambush where he had been shot with crossbow bolts and never really healed properly. His name, however, is in goblin. Why is this you ask? Well...the mayor is a giant cave spider. As a result of giving him [CAN_LEARN] to increase their effectiveness and off er easy counseling to my dwarves, it seems that GCS became electable officials. I am eagerly awating his first mandate. I hope it involves the budding child population of the fort, the caverns, and floodgates.

From Mr. Welch's 1350 things he is not allowed to do in a RPG:
148. There is no Gnomish Deathgrip, and even if there was, it wouldn't involve tongs.
171. My character's dying words are not allowed to be "Hastur, Hastur, Hastur"
218. No matter my alignment, organizing halfling pit fights is a violation.
231. I am not allowed to do anything that would make a Sith Lord cry.
240. Any character with more than three skills specializing in chainsaw is vetoed.

No mandates? Sounds like I need to make my nobles GCS' so that they stop creating export prohibition mandates right before traders leave the map forcing my captain of the guard to run around hacking all of my haulers heads off..

either that or I could build more jails

Heh, but I can dream can't I? Looks Like I can't give him an office either.

I can see it now, a huge spider in an office waiting for diplomats to arrive and pay him a visit.

This GCS mayor would be a great leader if dwarves were replaced with trolls, as happened to me.

When I got .18, well, things got a bit weird, dwarves were replaced by trolls, elves by unicorns, humans were ogres, there were also moghoppers and dragons. The only way to fix it was to get rid of everything DF (with the exception of a DLL file I missed), from the computer. I just wish that the trolls could have had a GCS mayor.

Nope, but it did happen again in .19 and I just got rid of all non-DLL files and that fixed it.

I could try to duplicate this if anyone wants.

I can tell you exactly how to duplicate it, if you tell me you were using Genesis.

Anyone else imagining a GCS in a tux with a tophat and monocle sitting down for tea with leaders from other nations?

Anyone else imagining a GCS in a tux with a tophat and monocle sitting down for tea with leaders from other nations? rampaging across other nations?

This was a pretty monstrous typo.
